hello all!

My friend has a 2001 GrandAm SE (2.4L 4cyl) that, after seeing my Mazda, wants to start working on performance stuff with his car.

Currently he only has the Cold Air, and a cat-back exhaust.

I have a few ?'s

1. Is a swap to V6 difficult? Are there engines that can bolt on (like with my MX-3, i was able to swap engines with no hassle.. all my stock wiring, and even the stock mounts fit the engine that i swapped into).. i would assume not, but still wanted to ask haha.

2. If the swap to V6 isn't worth it, should I get better headers for the car? And also if V6 isn't worth it, can his car be Turbo'ed.

If there is anything else you want to add please do so. I am not that good with Pontiac's, so please bear with me :(

the 2.4 has way more potential then the 3400 V6 and its a pain to do the swap. If he really wants performance go turbo and I'm sure spy will post in about his turbo build. If he wants a little more power go with the bolt on GM Supercharger which adds about 50hp with the stock pulley and about 80-100 hp with meth and smaller pulley. For just minor starting mods all the bolt ons would work. Header-back exhaust, CAI or WAI, Secret Cam swap, intake Manifold Swap (if boosting),

Best swap for his car will be to get a manual tranny insrtead of the auto... that's me assuming the car is an auto to begin with.

It's not a difficult swap as all the parts are available from the stealership or your local junkyard.

F23 Getrag tranny is what you need, plus flywheel, flywheel bolts, clutch.. you know the usual stuff. Easy direct bolt in swap.

If he wants to unleash his car, he needs to have HPTuners so you guys can play with the tuning.

Is it possible to turbo the car? Easily, I can even put together a simple kit to get you started for a reasonable price to get you started. Considering my old setup isn't going to cut it with what I want to put out of this car. I've pushed over 400hp out of a meager setup.

What power level do you guys want out of the car? Once I know that we can get somewhere.

Ralph, what is the "Secret Cam swap"? Something about the 2.3L engine?

And about the CAI vs WAI I found this this my research wai-test (http://www.metrompg.com/posts/wai-test.htm)
It isn't the same engine but I'm guessing it's roughly the same unless you have a Honda engine. Does anyone have any experience with a WAI on a 2.4?

*edit*
I read the sticky on the Cam Swap but after reading it I'm still asking myself why? What is the point of changing them?

slightly more aggressive cam profile, then stock. After a tune it does help, mildly.
