I just installed 6.5" speakers in my doors (Infinitity Reference 6022i ). The new speakers stick out about 1.5" and when I try to open my windows the crank and speaker hit. Is there a way to extend the window crank so it wont hit the speakers? If not, any ideas (besides taking out the new speakers). Thanks.

I dont think you can extend the window crank. Maybe if you can find shorter crank handles that will fit on the GA. maybe some off a sunfire io something.

Hmm never heard of this problem happening before :???2:
instead of mounting them to the door, leave the factory grill on and mount them to the door. no clearance issue then...

Replace your window handles. All the GM's use the same base. I have billet truck handles in my car.

At first I was going to use the factory grills but I like the look of the new ones. Would a GM Dealership be the best place to get handles?

I would head to a j/y and find some. would be alot cheaper.

Junk Yard sounds like a good plan because I had a little accident with the rear deck doing the 6x9s! My buddy thought it would be a good idea to cut holes in the rear deck so you could have the same look as the front with the grills. What we didn't realise was how far the distance was between the deck and the speaker hole (a good few inches). I guess we ruined the rear deck. :(

Bottom mount them. Aftermarket grills = "steal me!" advertisement

:agree:
Though in my case the faceplate is left on all the time and during the day the GPS is left sitting in the windshield when i go onsite....but the alarm deters that (At least i hope enough not to worry about it)
I still say bottom mount them, you will have no issues then.
