okay first off i have a chance to buy a set of other guys headers (with only a thousand miles or so on them) from a buddy of mine for about 150 bucks. they are like brand new. hes been selling me parts off his car since he wrecked it in '06. however, what do i use as gaskets? knowing him if there was one that came with it he might have lost it. can i use the stock gasket thats on there right now or do i HAVE to get a new one? also does anyone know if they came with any other gaskets besides the one where it bolts to the engine? anyone on here have a set of these? and how much of a pain in the ass are they to put in? what do i have to remove to dig in there to bolt them up?
last question is around what was the gain on TOG headers? anyone have any drag time differences or dynoed with them on? thanks!

... you can't use the factory ones as they are part of the heat shields ... you will have to get a set but I am not sure if just a standard set of aftermarkets will work ... maybe S&S will work as that is what I used but then again, my headers are S&S :)

... you can't use the factory ones as they are part of the heat shields ... I just did my LIM and head gaskets 4 weeks ago, and since I had it off I replaced the exhaust gaskets. Not sure on the '99 but the '01 the gaskets are definitely not part of the heat shield.

Not sure Joe but the back half of the heat shield was definitely the gasket in my 99

 Not sure, I see from your pic what your saying, but I know my gaskets looked just like the piece to the right of the manifold on the left of the pic. I still have full heat sheilds front and rear.

does anyone know what gaskets can be used on the TOG headers. will the S&S or pacesetter gaskets work? or will the stocks work with a little trimming. oh and sorry for the crappy thread title mods can fix if they want.

well i think im going to get these anyway, its too good an offer to refuse. if i have to me and cobra jeff will match it up to the s+s headers he has and see if its the same, if they are i can use s+s gaskets or maybe pacesetter gaskets. or modify a stock gasket set to fit or make my own somehow. the kid is going to take some pictures for me tommorow so i can see em before i drive out there and check to see if he has the gaskets. I think its the shinier show ceramic finish on them too.
but jeff says the subframe has to be dropped to get at the back manifold? how much did you guys pay for your header jobs?

I don't believe you have to drop the subframe.
I have never done headers on a NBody but I have on WBodys and it's not that bad and from what I understand the install is simular to the two.
Best if you have access to a lift because the headers have to be angled and rotated to get into place. It's a tight fit but not impossible.
*Merged the two threads.

You do't have to drop the frame, everything can be done from the top :)
Here is page 5 of the thread I made when I gt my headers :)
