I just put an intake kit on my 2001 GA 2.4. Just idling, and driving, it does fine but in neutral, If i rev it, around 4100 RPM, it stalls out like i have a VAC leak. Is this normal?

Double check to make sure all your hoses are connected. Sounds like a problem with the MAF or IAT sensors.

ok......the only hose is the intake tube and it is tight. And the sensor is in place. That is all i bothered with. The kit is just a pipe with a filter that goes where the stock box would fit.

That is normal actually. When in neutral or park the PCM will limit your revs so you do not blow your engine.

Well the correct term would be Pinging off the Rev limiter, but it's not meant to stall the engine... just reduce rpm... thats what happens with my 3100/3400... I mean the 2.4 might be different but I cant see that, Hopefully more people with a 2.4 will try reving up pass 4000 and seeing if the engine stalls..
Just look over every connection plug and vacume tube....Like TA Guy said maybe something with the MAP or IAC. not plugged in or lose...
Check for Intake leaks by getting a can of Brake clean, idle the car and start spraying the throttle body and vacume hoses, if she revs higher, theres your leak

Techincally, he is hitting the rev limiter.
It is meant to reduce varying things that control the engine, and feels like the car is stalling. Same idea as the traction control, but based on the engine having no load and being in neutral/park.
Also remember that vacuum is at it's greatest at idle, and the OP states "Just idling, and driving, it does fine ...".

If you have the 4T45E, its normal. The Torque Converter doesn't take too well to high revs in neutral, so the car will cut the power at that RPM. If you have the 5 speed, you can redline it. The G5's do the exact same thing with the 4T45E trans.

Hmmm, learned something new.
Will have to wait and see if the OP chimes in with whether he has the 5-speed or not.

nope...unfortunately, stuck with AT. Wish IO had 5 speed!
