I did some searching but was unable to find my answer. Has anyone done away with their cat? Does anyone have any sound clips? Also some people say that the removal of the cat will decrease the back pressure so much that it will take away all the low end torque my 3.4 is known for. Currently I have a series 80 flowmaster and have already done away with the resonator.

I just replaced my cat with a Magnaflow High Flow one.
And i have too and Flowmaster 80 with no Res
The 99+ cat is really pretty good , no need to remove it . Upgrade to a high flow if you want , but unless you have air flow mods there will be little gain . Anything you do to increase the flow will usually decrease exhaust velocity , and you will lose bottom end torque , the mid power may increase somewhat as the power band moves up in the RPM range ... ;)

air flow mod like a turbo?
im thinking about doing a cat back in the near future, with 160k km I know my cat will prob go soon enough
was debating over this whole high flow cat deal, did some searching
so basically from your statement, lets say I only have a few plans, exhaust, intake, not much else, maybe PCM, then there is no real reason to get a high flow cat opposed to an OEM, similar etc.
I figure a new cat alone would be a great improvement (being mine's original) alongside 2.5'' pipe to a flowmaster 80
dont really want to loose low end torque...
am I about on the ball?
what would be a good cat in your opinion, comparing straight OEM, replacement for OEM/other and highflow cat
thanks

Just get a Cat back exhaust , even with the increase to 2.5 pipe you'll lose a bit of low end , but will make up for it in mid + . If low end torque is important to you for everyday driving , you may not like the results .

^x2, I got a 2.5" cat-back put on with an exhaust that flows like straight pipe (supposedly, probably all marketing hype), and idk if it's knowing about the tendency or the actual loss, but it feels like there is less get-up-and-go unless I'm above 2500.
