I'm not into bass thumping rap music, or that kind of stuff, but I love clear, and crisp sounds at high volumes, with a balanced amount of bass..

my problem is, i have noooooo idea what i'm doing lol..
what's a good set-up to get excellent sound quality, and an above average amount of bass without totally draining me of cash?

thanks!

1 12" sub in a sealed box might be good.

what door speakers? and the 2 rear speakers? Would it be possible (or stupid) to put 4 rear speakers, and then 1 in each door?

dont put 4 in the rear ....if you'r thinking about doing that then just replace the rear 6x9's pioneer 5 ways

Heres my idea, and I'm sure theres some mistakes, but here goes:

Pyle PLD42MU CD/MP3/VCD/MPEG4/AM/FM Car Player
PYLE 6x9 GOLD 8-WAY 1000w
PHOENIX GOLD RYVAL 6.5" 400w
Pyle PLA2240 800 Watt 2CH amp
400 WATT PYLE PL1290BL 12" Subs x2 (buying dual-12" sub inclosure)

It's not exactly cheap, and there's a good bit of bass in there lol,
but would it work? would the amp work with the two subs?

What kind of budget are we talking about here? give us an amount you want to spend and we can help you out. You can probably do alot better then Pyle. If you are really into the sound quality, I would suggest starting out with obvious one an after market deck and all new speakers. either 5.25 or 6.5 in the front and 6x9 in the back. put an amp on them either two 2 channel amps (1 for fronts speakers and 1 for rear) or one 4 channel amp. If you budget is low thats what i would start with. If you have enough money left over, I would also get a 10 or 12 inch sub in a sealed box for some extra kick. or if you want the sub right away just put an amp on the front speakers, and don't amp the back ones, then you got some spare money for the sub and sub amp. once we get a budget we can get more specific on the brands. remember you get what you pay for.

Well, I just looked at the Pyles because i'm absolutley in love with the head unit,
and budget..well, under $400, not including head unit, so $400 for speakers/subs/amps alone....I've never really heard of pyle, but, honestly since i'm not head over heals for bass, those two subs are right what i like, and only $85 for both of them on e-bay, which is also in my range lol.

For the 6.5 door speakers, and 6x9 rears what are the best ones?
I know the Gold Phoneix 6.5s are supposed to be supurb, but whats the best 6x9?
And good recomendation for a 4channel amp?
i'd also need a good 2 channel amp for subs i'm guessing, and to keep it the same, as these will actually be visible, i'd like to stick with the pyle amp..

Summary:
Good suggestions on 6x9s, and 6.5in front speakers,
and good suggestions on 4ch amps to power the 6.5s and 6x9s,
thanks a ton for quick responses! :)

Edit: just for lack of anything better to do, i figured i'd put up pics of the head, 2ch. amp, and the subs i know i want..

Your HU is the brains of your setup..If it sucks your system will suck as well...are you going based on looks alone?? Because Pyle is bottom of the barrel when it comes to making audio products

HU: Pioneer 4900=$120
Comps: Phoenix Gold Octane ZR's=$60
Comp Amp: Profile Baja A600=$60
Sub: Kicker CVR 12"=$60
Sub Amp: Cerwin Vega 300.2=$60

^^^Under budget and will sound great...

I agree. Pyle is an accurate name... as in a steaming Pyle of shit. Stick with better brands such as Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, JVC, or even Sony for head units. Even their cheapest models will be of higher quality than anything Pyle produces. You can easily build a system under or at budget.

Forget the rear speakers, they aren't necessary except as rear fill (For rear passengers). They should not be heard from the front if you want to maintain proper stereo imaging. Stick with a single sub in a sealed box if you're going for balanced, good SQ bass and care less about SPL. Stick to good quality front components and a decent amp to drive them.

You'll be rockin' before you know it. :)

Are they any good at all?

And I did like the pyle at first because of the looks lol..
Then the more I thought about it, the more I relized, when the hell am I ever going to feel the need to look at a 3 1/2 screen to watch a movie?
the screen on my cell phone is about that big!!!

These are all good suggestions.

Matt, also keep in mind you'll need $$ for install (if you're not going to do it yourself), sub box (pre-fab or make it yourself), amp kit etc.

For $400, you can get a pretty nice sounding setup, so take your time and listen to the advice here. There are a lot of really knowledgeable users on this board.

Thanks Darek, and Thanks for reminding me about installation costs, I had totally overlooked that!

Another thing, for the rear speakers you probably don't want to get something with alot of channels in the back, the rear speakers are basically the least attended to part because they don't matter unless you have passengers.
