Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the front speaker grills from the door without removing the door panel? I wanted to paint them to match the rest of my interior but when I tried to pull it off, I cracked it a little. Just wondering if anyone else has tried this or just painted them while on the door panel.

no. you have to pull the panel off. they have tabs that are melted to the door panel. well thats how mine were on my 05. you could just tape everything off and paint them. there is a screen behind the grill that will protect the speaker.

Thanks. I will probably just pull the door panel off cuz I think I took out that screen when I was installing new front speakers. I was hoping they would come off so I could replace the one I cracked.

ya I hear ya. I mounted my 6.5" on the out side of the door and then used the grills I got with the speakers. and the speakers are silver or metal color so it matches the interior that I painted.

That would be nice. I went with 'Hammered Metal' to paint my interior, so it is pretty much silver and I am very happy with it and have gotten a lot of comments.

Spend the extra 5 minutes taking off the door panel instead of masking everything off and then painting

Oh I will, what is taking it off again, its been off I dont know how many times. And as for being tacky, it might be but I don't think it will be overboard, I think that the parts of my interior that I have painted is a good balance. I don't like it when people just go crazy and paint everything, that just looks gawdy.

Take the back screen off the cover before painting if you didn't already, did that with mine and it actually looks pretty nice.
