Well as many of you know I was building my own megasquirt a few weeks ago and I just got this teaser pic from my buddy nukkinfuttz. I built this from scratch then sent it to nukkin to work some of his magic and install some circuits hes keeping secret from the rest of us.

(o.O)

That's quite a nice piece of equipment you got there. This is for the W41?

Nice... but secrets = :gay2:

Which version is it? I don't see a MAP inside there like the original ones... are you using the map externally? Or have it setup for a GM MAP sensor?

Yes I gave up with the stock ECU since very few chips are available for 94-95 ECUs. Also this doubled as my Senior Project

map is mounted underneath just like a few other transistors also its PCB 2.2 thats all the quad 4 needs

well matt maybe secret wasn't a good term but he doesn't have it well documented and was just telling me without schematics or PCB layout so I felt it was safer just to send to him

What about ignition? Are you going to use the earlier IDI module with it? I'm assuming you're going to want the ability to make a timing map.

That entire thing is built from scratch? Not the circuit board , but the rest of it looks like it could be ... ;)

Very nice peice of work there. Electrical eng? haha

It is a kit... you buy the pre-made PCB and solder on the components. The case and connectors are from a stock Quad 4 PCM.

I almost went that route, but the PCB version I needed was on backorder for 6 months at the time. Plus re-engineering basic PCM functionality (like IAC and warmup procedure) to get it street-friendly doesn't really pump my nads.

Yea matt im lucky I have a base tune from a quad 4 HO thats getting loaded in right away so I just need to tweak it to my needs.

Who created it? Nukkin? Sure that will make it easier, but honestly I have yet to see any standalone setup on a Quad be 100% streetable.

Nukkin made the one im going to use but there are a few of us now. 90Grandam has his running with MS now too. Thing is MS will never truly be streetable since it is very possible to fail emissions with it but I plan on giving it a shot considering its OBD-I so unless they notice the little things like the dash light check they won't be able to tell the ECU has been tampered with.

Easy... connect the SES light wire to the air bag light wire. :)

hmmmm you maybe on to something I was overthinking it. I was going to make a quick power on circuit that would be timed off of megasquirts processor clock

Nah... just piggyback that lamp onto another one for the bulb test.

How do you tune with that it comes with its own program? and is this a true standalone or you still need the stock ecu to control stuff non engine related stuff?

Ralph

true standalone the only piece missing before we just fixed was the speedometer. Obviously things like the SES light won't work. And yes it comes with a program called megatune that lets you edit all the VE maps.

what "extra firmware" are u using?

Ralph

lol the firmware is called MSExtra. Standard megasquirt firmware only supports fuel maps but extra adds spark.
