silly idea for supercharger

a while back here at work (over a year ago) a coworker and i were thinking about superchargers. we had come up with an idea. put a s/c on an electromagnetic pulley system, like an A/C compressor that can be activated and deactivated at will. granted this would need 2 methods of air intake but does anyone see this as possible? and what do you all think?

Waste of time. Just use a solenoid (like those used for boost controllers) on the existing bypass valve on Eaton blowers. Even then... not much point to it.

VW has essentially done this. They have a 4cyl (diesel I think) that has a turbo and a small super charger. The super charger is used on the low end of the RPM range until the turbo is spooled, then it kicks off and lets the turbo take over.
