What’s up all?

So I was reading this section of the forum, and I seen some topic talking about using "clay bar"?? What is that, where do you get, and what do you do with it??
I wash my car 1 time a week, and I only used the DO IT YOURSELF wax at the carwash.. I know it is junk. But Thursday I will be cleaning my car again. I just want to know what product you guys use. Like what brand do you use for the waxing? Is it spray on, or the wax that you put on your car and it dry’s and you buff it out?? And what is the clay bar thing?? And after you explain that, is there a certain step you use. Like meaning, do you wash the car, then wax then clay bar, or what is the correct way?(edit) OOO YA... What is the best product to clean the rims of the brake dust??

Thanks,
Eli

Meguirs'

Clay bar, is a cleaning product, usually comes with a spray, it's literally a piece of clay you run over your paint, after you wash it to take stuff off the surface.

The clay bar will take all the stuff that is seated in your paint off.

Here's an excerpt from a very valuable site coupe found. it explains about clay bar. http://www.paintcare-n-detailing.com/clay.html

I used Claymagic clay bar when I detailed my car a couple weeks ago...a bit cheaper then Meg's. The results helped the shine a lot...you'd be amazed at all the crap it will off after washing.

The order you would do it in is:
- wash
- claybar
- wax

so u wash, claybar and wax.. do u have to remove the claybar material before the wax or how does that work?

depending on the clay you use, you will get some residue, but it can just be wiped off with a fiber cloth or will come off with your wax.

at my work i use Carbrite claybar and a spray called showroom shine, which you spray on the spot you wanna clay, then just run the bar over it.

we have recently switched to Auto Armor, but i haven't tried their clay yet.

you will be amazed how smooth your paint is after claying, even without wax.

best way to feel the diff.: put you finger inside the clear plastic freshness wrap thing in a cigarrette pack and run it over the paint befor and after clay. it really magnifies any imperfections and debris you can't even see.

At pretty much any auto place: autozone, advanced auto parts, etc.

i went and bought a megulars kit today. pretty excited for the weekend to see some results. does anyone thing getting a polished is a good idea for like waxing etc instead of doin it by hand. found a simonze for a decent price, variable speed etc.

at work i use a dewalt variable hi-speed buffer, it ranges from 1000-3000rpm, tho i've never worked over 1800. most buffing and polishing compounds have some wax in them, so water will bead up on your paint.

just for waxing, we use another machine made by Cyclo called a Dual Head polisher. it has two 3'' circular pads that rotate in opposite directions. you can use it and have your whole car covered in wax in about five minutes, though you still have to remove by hand. i love that thing.

both machines i mentioned are fairly expensive, though i don't know exactly, cuz i didn't pay for them ;)

i'm not familiar with the one you're talking about, so i can't advise.

good luck!

I also bought the Ice Shine polish. Anybody use this before?
