I'll try to keep this simple....

1) About how many miles to a tank of gas should I get?

At the moment Im getting about 220-250miles per tank. I thought the fuel filter was the problem so I changed it today and while yes it was nasty, my mpg hasnt changed. Ideas?

2) What would cause that car not to start as in you turn the key to start but doesnt. Almost has if it didnt have gas. Somtimes taking 3-4 tries before it starts?

At first I thought problem #2 was because of the CAI I just put in but then I remember having this problem with the stock airbox.

3) Could a sensor that controls that gas flow cause both problems above? If there is such a sensor that could cause the problems above, which one would it be? Anyways of checking it?

Anyone have any other ideas?

EDIT:

AH HA! I knew I forgot something.

Lets say Im driving at 70mph, running around 2k rpm and then I start up a hill, is it normal to have to push the pedal about all the way down to get it to shift? This also happens somestimes on a flat surface, such speeding up to pass someone.

Just seems like the engine wants to run at 2000 rpms or less and asking it to do higher rpms is like asking it to give its life up.

Does that make any sense to anyone? ideas?

First, check all of the vital fluids - transmission, oil. Then check the wiring coming from the tranny, the throttle body, and the ECM for any frayed or fraying wires, a proper connection, or a noticeably dirty connection. If one IS noticeably dirty or damaged, that could be a problem. Take it apart and clean it out, and put it back together, or replace if damaged.

When was the last time you changed the oxygen sensor? Every 25000 miles would be frequent enough. A malfunctioning sensor could be the problem and cause the fuel economy you're currently getting.

There's a possibility that the throttle position sensor located on the throttle body is malfunctional. That would be one possibility concerning the acceleration issue.

How many miles do you have on the car? If there a lot of mileage maybe there's a problem with the cat - not as likely, but possible. If the cat is clogged it will create several driveability problems similar to the ones you have described.

Well I just bought the car used from a dealer. It almost has 50,000 miles on it. The oil was just changed, and everything else looks fine. The engine and wiring looks brand new still.

Also if it was a sensor, wouldnt my check engine light or some other light come on?

I went and had the CAT checked which is fine but this caused me to find out my exhaust was to hot.......

Did a fuel pressure test. And if the info is auto guy got was right, its supposed to be 35/30 or somewhere about that for key on / motor running.

Well my pressure is at 57/52 (key on/motor running) So Im going to take it back to the dealer tomorrow for them to fix.

On a side note, with the car under warrenty, would installing a CAI void it? Or does it depend on the deal/warrenty?
