Just bought a 2004 SE with 5 speed from my cousin. I needed a new car, he was going to trade it in. 54,000 miles, garage kept. One owner. $4,000.

Any tips on general care such as suggested oil, tires, etc?

Here is a picture of it.

you got a really good deal! :) That's pretty low mileage. And it looks to be in great shape.

I've been runnin 4.5qt's of the big Q full synthetic oil in mine, loves it. also switched out the plugs to NGK iridiums.

Looks good. Just do the basic run over for the maintence. O2 sensors, plugs, oil, coolant...etc. You don't need to touch the trans oil, it should be good for a long time.

The L61 with the 5 speed is pretty peppy, so enjoy it. Oh, and you'll just LOVE third gear ;). I will downshift from 5th to 3rd (With doing the double clutching of course to avoid screwing the synchros up) and it makes passing with the ecotec easy.

I've noticed that. 3rd gear is fun as heck. Why would anyone drive an automatic?

I've been running Penzoil in all my cars for years, would keeping with Penzoil 5W20 be sufficient for this one?

I'd stick with a full synthetic 5w30 of your choice.
