Hey guys, I have just installed the front pair of Eibach lowering springs on my 99 grandam (the stock springs both were cracked so i had to replace them) i picked up the springs from the summit racing store on clearance for only $10 (yeah really cheap) but they only had the fronts. Now i have the front of the car lowered but the back is still the normal stock height. Does anyone have any suggestions on what i can do besides spending the $200+ on a whole new set of springs when i only need the rear springs? i've heard plenty and i mean plenty of bad things about cutting so thats not an option plus since the springs are flat on top and bottom i've heard there impossible to successfully cut anyway. but im just looking for a safe but cheap alternative to adjusting the back springs to level out the car. Thanks for the input!

Buy the rear springs... obviously that's why Summit sold the front 2 cheap - cause they're pretty useless without the entire set.

well they sold the two on clearance almost two years ago. they only had the front two and no rear. im guessing they were like a display or promo or something of that sort. so i just cant find any place that has just the two rear springs.

ok well actually i just won the bid on all four Intrax springs that a guy was selling on ebay for 75 bucks. but does anyone have any pictures of a 99+ grand am lowered on the intrax springs. and possibly a before and after picture just so i can get an idea of how it will look. Also how important is it to get an alignment done? after replacing on the front springs i havent noticed any change at all in the alignment...at least theres no pull to either side.

You need an alignment every time the strut assembly is removed.

Springs can be cut. However when you do you change the spring rate and will only make the vehicles handling suffer which could result in dangerous handling and/or bottoming out.

Hmm, I don't even know why Summit sold just the front ones....I have never seen that before.
I wouldn't recommend mixing different springs, just like tires because they all handle differently.

yeah when i get the intrax, im just going to take the front eibachs off and just put on all four of the intrax and then go get an alignment.

You wouldn't want to mix springs from left to right. You can get away with different spring rates in front and rear to an extent (obviously you don't want vastly different rates)... in fact many cars already come with different spring rates between front and rear. He could get away with it... that's certainly no worse than it is now with differing right height too.
yeah when i get the intrax, im just going to take the front eibachs off and just put on all four of the intrax and then go get an alignment.
That's still the best plan.
