View Full Version : Finicky Heat....

Hey everyone. I'm looking for some advice on what may be the cause of this.

Sometimes I start the car and lets say it's been out in the cold for a while. Normally once the temp hits 90 Celcius (194 F) the heat is nice and warm, everything is great. Ocassionally, it'll get up to 90 but the air will be cold. If I rev it up to about 2000 - 2500 RPM, it then kicks in sometimes and the heat works fine.

Also sometimes it'll go over 90, and once i rev it and it kicks in, the heat will come out and temp will drop back down to 90 or less.

It's almost as if something is getting stuck or not kicking in at the right time.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Any ideas? Check your coolant level , it may be low .

'02, about 75k miles?

Check your coolant level as gt00 stated, AND bleed the trapped air.
The procedure is detailed in a post under the FAQ tab at the top of this webpage.

I'm with rixGAphx on this one, you might have some air trapped in the heater core.

Trapped air in coolant, or stuck thermostat.
