Well, you can see a little by adding a K&N filter. But very little...maybe 3-5 HP. :(
Just don't buy into those several Ebay scams about "20HP gain" for such a small amount of $$$. Those scams are awful and like a plauge.

They charge you $10-$20 just for some resistor from radioshack that makes your car run rich.
There is no cheap way to gain any meaningful HP. Be wary of any claims of HP increases with stuff ya drop in, pour in or bolt on.
HP costs money, pure and simple.
Now doing some inexpensive things may make your car get better gas mileage, improve how it responds to the throttle, looks and sounds, but they won't gain you gobs of HP.
Some people will say that a CAI and a cat-back will gain you lots of power, but I am suspicious of those claims. Now they may gain SOME power, as they claim their cars now run better, especially in the upper RPM range. I believe these changes have more likely just widened the power band into higher revs, because the engine is breathing easier, which is a good thing.
Look around this forum in some of the older posts. You wiull probably find all kinds of suggestions that may be what you're looking for. Have fun!

The inexpensive route is the intake and exhaust...And what BBT said about the gain, everyone is sceptical...If someone were to get the home made CAI and Borla or SLP(or even custom cat-back) and dyno their car youd prolly be looking at 10 wheel hp...anything higher the car itself has to be a more powerful car.For a street driven every day car most people are happy with CAI/WAI and an exhaust which together do add good amount of HP,not a lot.

theres always an ecu mod.. those tend to help.. to what degree though really depends on what kinda you get.. but they range from about 250-400$ i think.. kinda hard because of CDn and US prices
