Okay, kindof dumb question probably but oh well.
I bought the Powerball Mini this weekend for multiple uses (rims and head/taillight polishing). I also bought the Aluminum Polish by Mothers for the rims. Could I possibly use this combo to polish the upper manifold thing (that has the "3400 SFI" on it) too?

If you're talking about polishing the rims you have on there I wouldn't... Those may be aluminum but they're painted. Aluminum polish is for bare aluminum surfaces, not painted aluminum surfaces.
As for polishing the UIM, etc, you can. But you'll have to do a helluva lot of sanding first to remove the textured surface. Attacking it with a powerball and some polish isn't going to do much if anything.

Okay, I was going to double check that too...didn't know if I could use the polish on the rims or not...but guess not. Thanks for saying something. :)
Yea, thought about it more last night and realized that I'd probably have to degrease the crap out if it and sand it like no other too...so I think I'll hold off on polishing it. Thanks for your help Shawn! :)

I use regular wheel cleaners on mine, but don't use any sort of polish. I finish up with ammonia-free glass cleaner. They're 6 years old now and still look new.

Right now I'm using Simple Green all-purpose cleaner, but I've used Maguires Hot Rims, Turtle Wax Emerald Series wheel cleaner, Spray 9 all-purpose cleaner, and others like that. Just simple spray cleaners and a wash mitt. No brushes, no overly harsh chemicals.
So long as your rims aren't cloudy or scratched, I doubt you've done any damage. You'd see it right away if you did. However the Chrometechs are just chrome plastic covers over aluminum rims. The plastic covers are very fragile, and scratch and cloud easily.
