well today my low coolant light came on, so i started looking all around the engine and noticed that it was leaking from the seal that goes between the engine and the water pump. My question is there a seal there or is the water pump on its way out, the water pump is still working fine so i was wondering if the seal was bad, and if so can i just buy he seal with out having to buy a hole new pump? how much should it cost if i take it to a shop, oh buy the way its a 99se 2.4L thanks in advance

First off how many miles do you have on your car? 120k-160k?? Very doubtful you will be able to put a new seal on the water pump. Most the time the water pump is dieing do to the fact the bearing are just old. Are you sure its not leaking from the "weep hole"? Its a VERY common thing on these motors with the water pump is going. Also you having a 2.4 Twin Cam its going to cost you around $600 to $800 bucks for the repair. They have to take off the timing chain (that is what powers the water pump) and do a ton of other small things that they need to do to just get at. Its just time consuming and labor intensive. Wish you the best of luck and FIX IT FAST! Your just driving a ticking TIME BOMB waiting for your Twin Cam to over heat and crack its head. Witch will cost you double of a water pump repair if not more. Most people end up losing their Quad4/Twin Cam to a faulty water pump.

I can barely see the picture... need to zoom out to see what area better... I think I know where that is though...
Is that on the upper drivers side of the engine? Near the power steering pump? Dripping from under the black plastic? If so, that's good news - that is the coolant outlet from the head, not the water pump. It is sometimes called "water outlet" or "thermostat housing" (even though the t-stat hasn't been located there since 93 model year) Replace the whole thing... it is under $20.

The water pump is underneath the exhaust manifold on the passenger side. If it is dripping from the water pump, you need to get the car off the road immediately, as the coolant will mix with the oil via timing chain housing and the milkshaked oil will trash the engine.

That shouldn't be bad to change, might just have to take the air intake hose off to give you some room to work.

Not very hard to change, but you will need to partially drain the coolant. You'll also have to transfer the ECT sensor and the small metal hard line to the new outlet.
If you don't feel confident doing so, any shop should be able to do this. Shouldn't be more than 0.5-1 hour of labor.
