I want to get either a WAI or a COI for my grand am and I was wondering if this cold air is any good?

or would I be better off getting the WAI from cosmoracing.com?

That is a great CAI for the 2.4 but very expensive. I know MPracing wants to make one for the stock 2.4 and just made one for the 2.4 Supercharger in a 5th gen. Where are you located if you are near him he may give you a deal for bringing your car in to fit one to it.

I have that on mine right now and I love it...the only bad part was that I had to do some modifications to make it fit. The main one was that I had to take out windshield washer fluid bucket to make the filter fit, but other than that it's awesome. I could tell a difference when I put it on.

did the fluid container fit back in with it installed?

How would the CAI be in northern ontario canada? Quite a bit of rain and I drive all year round

Also how much of a difference did you notice?

The fluid container didn't fit back in...so I'm driving around with no windshield washer fluid(weight reduction hah). Don't really know what to tell you about the difference, but I could really tell a difference when I tested it out going WOT. Where I put the filter it is mostly covered by the splash shield, so I have had no problems with it getting water in it at all.

Can anyone tell me how much of a difference I would notice with the ram?

What ram? You mean an intake? Depends on what you've done, intake and exhaust mods build off each other. The biggest increase you'll see is by buying headers, your engine (LD9 I think) has a very restrictive exhaust manifold.
Silverbuller, can't tell for sure from the pics, but it looks like you have the black tb box still on? Remove that and put a silicone 90* coupler, it's a restrictive piece, though it does a good job of hiding the tb.

no he doesn't have the box on thats one of the better things about the ID CAI. Headers are a decent mod as well. I believe he means a short ram which will work well as well. CAI would be best though.

We didn't have to remove the washer tank on Mel's 2000 SE 2.4 when we installed the ID CAI. Nor did it require fascia removal for install.

Washer tank stayed on mine too.

Lookign good for the cold air + header! But what about northern ontarios winters and the cold air? Bad mix?

For winter you could remove from the third tube on and make it a WAI.

Thats true eh? Thanks... sadly never thought of that

And noe one gave a definitive answer, is the cold air worth the extra 200$ over the warm air intake? Or would I be better off just getting a WAI?

Yes... would just need another air filter (3" opening) and that would fit nicely right behind the battery.

Or you could do it the other way around... buy a WAI (just make sure it is one that eliminates the black box above the TB) and add an extra pipe + coupler to extend it into the fenderwell.

If itsd that easy why do people even bother buying full CAI's for triple the price?

 Who knows. Intimidated by having to cut and trim a couple pipes? It isn't hard... just need some time, confidence, and a Dremel.

Cool, i guess ill do that then.. if it fails ill just use the ram i guess.

I hope it sounds good with a header, magnaflow muffler and no resinator.

Which model/style Magnaflow?
