bad factory display

Has anyone ever encountered the problem of the factory CD player's display getting all messed up? On my radio, the display sometimes will not display some segments of the numbers, no matter what I do. But then after a period of time, it kicks back in. The radio and CD player both still work fine, it's just the display. Anyone know what's going with this?

Side question: What size aftermarket radio will fit nicely in a 99+ GA without sticking out half a foot from the bezel???

I had the same problems, I'm sure any will fit I think they're pretty much a standard size, mine is very flush and clean.

m,y girls factory deck had that problem. we solved it by putting in my old kenwood. heres a pic of my new alpine deck. this install took months to get perfect, yes the deck is molded into the dash. ill try to get a better pic.
