I'm thinking about getting my windows tinted sometime very soon, but the police in town around base are a-holes towards marines so I don't want to give them a reason to ticket me by having really dark tint. So, in your opinions, do you think I should go with 35% all around or 20% all around?

35 is a nice shade that isn't too noticeable, but still makes it look nice. i say go with 35

Well, if you want to you could go 5% in the back and 35% in the front. The back 5% will give the fronts a more darker look that 35. Plus, if the cop pulls you over and 35% is the law you should have no problems stuffing it in his face. This is what I have on my car,
From the front it "looks" like I have limo tint all around

But when you look on the side

They're different tint.

I'm all for the uniform look, same tint all the way around. I have 20% and I love it.

Psst, GASE34, your directional tires are on backwards!

Get 'em swapped back around if you haven't already, leaving them like that will have the opposite effect of directional tires and will DRAW water under the tire, making hydroplaning MUCH worse.

Thanks. Stupid tires, there was no directional arrow on the tire itself, all its said was outside. This pisses me off but thanks.

I would do 35% all the way around.

Here in NY only the very rear window can be tinted, none of the sides.

We have 20% in the back and rear sides, and 30% on teh front sides and we have been stopped several times in the last few months its been done.

I had 15 all around on my jeep and I didnt think it was near dark enough. Im wanting 10 on my GA... then 6 inches down on the front window.

Get it as dark as you can. 35% sucks (i have because of the law) not that dark at all. Now my my neighbor has 5% or 3% all around his GA. Can't even see inside of on the brightest day at noon. And his car is always cool on a hot day.

Not only is it safer at night, but I personaly think 20% abd 35% looks cleaner.

i have 18% platinum all the way around with 35% platinum on the windshield and a 5" brow across the windshield of my GA. if i had it to do over i'd make the windshield a little lighter, but i'm not taking it off to change it

I have 2.5% on back and rear sides, 30% on front sides, and 50% on windshield. Three layers of the 2.5 over the small triangular windows in the back of the rear doors, and you can still see through it from the inside (looking out).

I like to keep it legal (which is it, well, front sides should be 35%, but no biggie). Can't see ANYTHING through any of the backs.

Why would you go darker on the sides than on the back?

In my case, I have tint on the rear passengers, and thats it. When I cart my son around, the sun blinds him, so I got a dark set put on. The back window and front doors have zero tint. Looks somewhat goofy, but I'm not exactly looking for aesthetic points when it comes to the comfort of my son. ;)

Tinting the rear window will also help with his comfort, as most of the heat buildup in the car comes from the rather large and sloped rear window. As a bonus, it'll look a lot better too. :) You don't have to go very dark to get the benefits of tint without severely restricting nighttime rearward vision.
