our stock radio has been acting up lately, a couple weeks ago no sound was coming out of the speakers but the radio and everything still worked just no sound, so then I left the car for about an hour and started it back up and there was sound, no problems at all. So then I get into the car tonight and nothing again, left it for a while and tried again and still nothing. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas or if this was a common problem or what the deal is, thanks

Moore19ca,
I had the same problem with my rear speakers.I found that when the interior was hot;ie a summer day, they would work. They would not work thru the winter months.I purchased new speakers from the dealer.Put them in and problem solved!
I tested one of the speakers in the house after i placed it on a window ledge for 20 minutes and it worked just fine.
I read somewhere that there is a problem with some of the original speakers that GM have since resolved.
Regards,
Andrew

I actually had the same problem again today, no sound whatsoever from the speakers, i put in new front speakers, but its all 4 that have no audio coming from them, stereo is on, everything looks like its working but no sound, its actually done it a couple times over the last few weeks, itll work then it wont. It seemd to only do it when you either turn the car on or off, it hasnt cut out while I've been driving or in the car, itll either work when you turn the car on or it wont. I dont know what the problem is?

Have you ever removed the stock HU? Almost sounds like a loose connection somewhere that or the radio is shot maybe buy a used stock HU off someone real cheap

ya I'm going to go out and take the radio and out and see if i can find something thats loose, I'm pretty sure whoever had the GA before me had a stereo in so they likely only hooked everything up quick and didnt care

just came back in from checking the head unit, nothing was loose on the back, however the manufacture date on it was 2001 and my car is a 2000 so I'm thinking thats not the original head unit. I also unplugged the head unit and plugged it back in and still no luck, no sound at all, so I think the headunit must be dying, I have no idea and another thing there was a empty socket i guess you could call it, in the middle on the back of the head unit and nothing was plugged into it and I couldnt find any plugs that would go into it, anyone know what its for?
