Okay, the other day my flasher relay started acting up. It'll randomly just click on and off. I'm really hoping it's just a flasher relay (I got a price from Ramp Chevy for it, $18). Anybody else have this problem?

Has to be the flasher. Give it a shot and replace it.

is it clicking from behind the hazard switch?

is it clicking from behind the hazard switch?

I guess so. It acts up every now and then. After I signal, it keeps ticking, then stops.

It's more than likely to be the multifunction switch , the contacts get dirty and cause the flasher to continue to click . The flasher and hazzard switch are one unit behind the dash , that's why you hear the sound from there .... ;)

I agree with gt00.
If it is continuing to blink, it's the switch.
If it doesn't blink at all or stays solid, it's the relay.

yeah sometimes when i go to use my turning signals they dont work but if i turn on and off the hazards then the turning signals will kick on. and sometimes mine also just continues to do a fast clicking even with no signal actually on, just a constant fast click. i havent tried replacing the relay yet though

I have this same problem with my 2000 GA. When it started the faster blinking sound (like when you have a blinker bulb out.) it was after I would use the signal when turning a corner. The sound was from the area of the hazard switch above the radio. So I replaced the hazard switch & relay combo, new part from GM. The noise went away for a couple of weeks. The noise has returned, and now putting on the turn signals does not affect the noise. I have had entire days when the switch clicked fast (like I had a bulb out) any time that the car was turned on. I do not have any bulbs out. And the clicking slows down to the regular turn signal pace when I put the turn signals on. It seems like this does not affect the turn signals. Can I just disconnect the hazard switch to stop the clicking? Will that affect my turn signal operation?

If you unhook the hazard switch you will have no turn signals, I learned that when testing radios one afternoon. Hand signals suck.

My 2000 has the same exact problems - I HAVE replaced the Hazard swtich - and boy do I want it to stop, it's driving me friggin bonkers.

So, the question is, since myself and others have replaced the hazard switch itself, is it the Turn Signal switch, or is it the Hazard Switch/Relay? Or is there ANOTHER relay that I don't know about that needs to be replaced?

no its probably the relay. My stupid foglight relay keeps going bad. Not hard to replace at all....

For Gibby and moore, the next step would be cleaning your multifunction switch. Clicking it into place wears away at it, leaving metal shavings in the grease surrounding parts. When enough metal accumulates, it likes to short and constantly complete the circuit.

no its probably the relay. My stupid foglight relay keeps going bad. Not hard to replace at all....Replace all the relays you want , it'll still click . The fog light relay is likely going because you have higher wattage bulbs in there . Not even related to the turn signal issue anyway ... ;)
