Hey question about Grand Am stereo

I'm planning to sell my Blazer and get a Grand am, probably an 03-04 and have a question about the stereo. I may end up getting an SE1 with the standard CD stereo and wondering if it's possible to upgrade from that to the monsoon, how complicated is it and are the speakers the same or do I have to also buy new speakers? I hear that upgrading the stereos on these can be difficult.

Don't waste time trying to upgrade to the Monsoon unit... the improvement is negligible compared to the effort. It will be cheaper and easier to upgrade to an aftermarket system, and it will sound better too.

Sweet thanks, I'm pretty much set on an 03 GT and I think that comes with the monsoon stock so hopefully won't run into that problem

not all GTs had the monsoon. I think GT1 came standard with monsoon, and it was optional in GT.
