Yes, but consider how much more a ticket will cost you + insurance hikes. The V1 has an unsurpassed detetection capability over any other detector on the market. The only one that is close is the Beltronic STi, which is more expensive due to its stealth capability (The STi cannot be detected by the Spectre series RDD's that some police agencies use in areas where detectors are prohibited).

If you don't get a top notch detector, you're probably going to be better off not having one at all since you won't have that false sense of security.

As far as that Whistler, its too cheap for a remote mount unit. The only good remote mount unit that I can think of is the STi-R by Beltronics and that is a 1000 dollars.

Hmmm just checked out the V1 and its $500 at every site I can find it on EXCEPT the actual Valentine site and its $400. Thats kind of weird.

That's because people on the Internet are retarded and don't look around. The only (authorized and recommended) place to get a V1 is directly from Valentine

Yea I kind of figured that when I found it cheaper at the official site. Im thinking about picking up one because Ive got about 2500 miles of driving to do on midtour.
