So I just joined up, never really been on one of these forums before, but I am looking for some help. I would like to make my stock grand am look a bit cleaner. Right now I am looking at putting some rims on and maybe a body kit.

Rims:

right now I am thinking about 17's and these 2 models are what I am thinking right now

http://www.customwheelsdirect.com/wheels_brand/wheel_detail.php?id=38414

this has 5X114.3 and a +40 offset

or

http://www.customwheelsdirect.com/wheels_brand/wheel_detail.php?id=38468

this one is 5X114.3 and a +42 offset

As far as I have managed to find out both of these should fit on my '01 GA. If they wouldn't please let me know that I am a moron. If there are other rims you think would look good let me know and I would gladly look into them. I am not looking for anything to flashy just something to give my car a nice clean look.

Body kit:

As for a body kit I really dont know anything about this. From what I have seen most seem to be way to flashy for what I want, like I said earlier I just want to give my car a nice clean look. I was even considering maybe just getting the bumbers and side skirts from a gt because I really like the way those look.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. I am new to this and have never done anything to any of my cars. I'm not looking to spend a ton of cash, just want to make my car look nicer.

Welcome! I'm not a big fan of them rims. Too many spokes. I like 5 spokes. As for a body kit. I say go with a GT bumpers and then get the SC/T kit. would look very sweet

welcome, but you dont have a 2.3L quad...its a 2.4L DOHC or a 2.2L ecotec.

as for body kits you can go a few ways:
- GT body
- GT body + SC/T kit (look on pfyc.com)
- AED (but customer service is in the dumps, most will say to stay away)
- RK Sport (looks great, some say it extends the nose too far)
- andys autosport (kinda gawdy, esp considering what you say you want)

just search any of those and youll find tons of pics and threads.

You can use a hubcentric ring to get the 5x114.3 wheels to fit, there have been mixed results though, some members have no problems while some have have ruined lugs.

Thanks, ya I wasnt really sure what engine it was, just knew it was a 4 cylinder. I think I will look into the gt kit, the other ones just seem to gaudy, and maybe later adding a sc/t kit. The rims ya from what I have read the 5X114.3 with hubcentric rings seem to work. I have looked for 5x115's and they are tough to find other than just stock rims and thats not really what I am looking for. Any one know of any sites that I can find some 5x115's and where would be the best place to look for a gt kit?

GT kit, junkyard or somebody selling the panels after upgrading to a body kit.

So I have still been looking for rims, I am having trouble finding a place I can order from on the internet though. I looked into getting some rims and getting tires installed here, but all the place around here seem really high, they want like $700 for there cheapest tires and mounting them. So I am looking for a place I can buy rims and tires from online. I have tried craigs list and there really isnt anything I like on there that fits my GA. Anyone have a site that has some good deals?

Oh and I have not been able to find any gt kits at all. I suck at this game. :(

You can use a hubcentric ring to get the 5x114.3 wheels to fit, there have been mixed results though, some members have no problems while some have have ruined lugs.

The reason why people ruin lugs/studs is because they use the wrong lugnut for the wheels. Different wheels will require different lug nuts to properly be seated.
