ive seen really awesome trim painted in here..or dyed whatever the case..
iv also noticed that pretty much evryone swears by sand/primer/paint/clear
..
my question is..theres vinyl paints that dont require a primer...
im currently looking to paint some interior parts with a flat black..

is the clear only to get a clean shiny look? or is it actually to protect the paint itself? and if i use clear would i no longer hav the flat black but a glossy black?

thanks for all the info in advance guys

some paints dont require clear coat like krylon fusion i believe.....clear coats shine and help protect

I didn't sand. I washed everything with dish soap and a scotch brite pad. It removes all the dirt and grease. I wiped it down with rubbing alcohol just befroe painting.

I would think that the flat black would be hard to maintain. Finger prints would show up.

well i already painted some parts..i lightly sanded due to soem scratches..thats the whole reason ima paint the center console....but its not completely flat...for some reason it still comes out a bit glossy looking..so far so good i guess..as long as it doesnt scratch off im fine....i was just curious if i shuld clear coat since ima be painting peices that willl always be gettin either feet or hands on em
