need some input on couple amps i installing and possibly one more later in the future, right now i got a a alpine mrd-m500 mono amp(500rms) for my 2-12 inch type rs, i bought another mrd-m500 so i can run each sub with its own amp so ill be pushing 1000rms i guess, right now i got 4 guage wire going to my amp so i need to run another one or should i just replace the whole wire with like 2 gauge wire then when i get to trunk then split it with 4 gauge wire to the amps, also i may be replacing my door speakers and 6x9s so i may get even 4 channel amp, possibly mrp-f450, so im guessin gill need to run another wire lol, would 2 guage wire be powerful enough to run those 3 amps and id be splitting the 2 gauge to 3 4 gauge wires, or i gotta go een bigger than 2 gauge, prolly not the easiest thing running that big of wire im sure lol or bigger

I say run 1/0 (also known as 0 gauge) to a distribution block and split 4 gauge to each amp. the good news is that you already have the 4 gauge wire.
check out knukonceptz.com for the wire, i got mine there and its top notch with cheap prices.

Knukonceptz is great, my 4 gauge install kit was a third of the price of the Monster kit. They'll possibly be getting some more of my money this summer when I get a 4 to 4-8 distribution block for a front stage amp.

I agree with car audio dave, upgrade to 1/0 and get it over with, then you can do all the upgrading you want. take it to a distrobution block and 4 awg to the amps. and definately take at look at knukonceptz.com as mentioned. got my 1/0 awg kit from there, awsome stuff for awsome prices.

if it was me i would run a 0 gauge wire to at least a five farad cap and then spliy it from there to keep a good even volyage to ur amps thats gonna be a lot of draw from even a o gauge wire

The most he'd need is a one farad, the 1000wrms=1 farad. He most likely doesn't need a cap though.

well i think ill be pushing 1400 rms power, which i dont know if is doable for grand ams alternator? lol i think 1400 rms power is like 116 amps at 12 volts or 97 amps at 14.4.. so im guessing ill need the big 3 upgrade for sure, i dont wana to replce my alternator or battery lol, if it dies sooner(bat or alt) cause of all the power ill be using thats no biggy, as long as doesnt damage anything lol
2 mrd-m500 amps so thats 1000 rms, plus the 4 channel mrp-f450 is 400 rms
not that ill ever use 1400 rms power, prolly gotta have it cranked to the max heh
i have a alpine cda-9886 deck and 2 type r 12 inch subs, plan to have all type r stuff, not sure what im gonna repalce door speakers with same with the 6x9's, if i want 5.25 or 6.5. its all gonna be alpine anyway :P

How old is your battery? If it's more than 3-4 years old you may want to replace it or have it tested. Definitely do the big three, and look into a larger alt, it's about $200 for a good one, don't get an eBay one wire alt, it won't charge at idle.

big three should suffice. you might get some voltage drops while sitting idle at night (with headlights on).
I have to say, im only running about 350 watts and at night i get voltage drops with the system up, but i havnt upgraded all of the big 3 yet.

i get voltage drops just with my 1 500 rms amp now when subs thump anyway and and dimming lights when the bass hits, always have tho for like the last 7 years, watchin my controller, ive seen the amps hit high 50's when bass is hitting
