I'm on summer break, my friend and I got bored tuesday afternoon, so what better to do than play with my car?
We made a trip to home depot and bought a section of dryer ventilation, the flexible kind that's shiny-silver in finish.
We also bought a metal "T" piece, and 2 scoops that would fit on the end of the dryer tubing.
We popped the hood open, and dropped a section of the tubing down between the two radiator fans, and ran that all the way to the "T" divider.
Then we removed both fog-lights and put a scoop on each one, attached to a 1 ft section of tubing and attached them to either side of the "T" divider and to the scoops. We also poked a hole in the bottom of the tubes right at the point where it meets the scoop for drainage purposes (water was collecting in the scoop), it works perfectly.
The single line running up to the engine runs onto a cold-air intake.
I have noticed a difference, definately in the sound of my engine, at high RPMs you can hear the car producing suction, and if you put your hand over the scoop and revv the engine, you can feel the suction.
Definately a noticeable difference.
Has anyone done anything like this before? I'm sure they offer something aftermarket, but I paid $15 for all materials, beat that price aftermarket.
Let me know what you think. I know it's completely insane, but the pictures will help make sense of it.
