Hi, I recently decided to take a look at how to undo my dashboard on my Grand Am and I actually made it without breaking anything(WOW).

But when I got to the part where I wanted to see the door speakers, I pulled the grill and some kind of rivets popped out. Now my problem is I can't put it back in place. I was wondering how I could re-install it.

Thanks
My car is a Grand Am 1996.

Well first of all, the grills aren't meant to come off. You need to completely remove the interior door panel to access the speakers. It stinks that you found that out the hard way. For a solution, I'd get a tube of plastic weld. With the door panel off, lay it down somewhere and put spread the plastic weld around where the grill came off and then stick it back on. After it sets, it should be on there stronger than it was before.

Oh...Thanks but do you have a guide on how tu uninstall the door panel? I would be sad to break my door interior only to re-install a speaker grill.

there's a nice guide on here somewhere, but it's fairly simple.

1. pull off the triangular piece behinf dour mirror and, if necessary, use a small flathead screwdriver to disconnect the tweeter.
2. put your window down and then gently pry your window controls out of the door (theyre pretty easy to remove) and unplug the wires from that.
3. remove the screw in your door handle and pull the trim plate out from behind it.
4. remove the screw you see inside of where the window control panel came out
5. screw #3 is located just below your door handle. It's pretty obvious.
6. screw #4 is behind your reflector. Pry it out carefully and remove that screw.
7. starting at the gap on the bottom of the panel (feel around for it...you'll see) pull firmly and the clips holding the panel in place will release. There are clips down both sides and across the bottom.
8. lift the panel upward and it should come out pretty easily. If it's the driver's side, you'll need to un-clip the trunk button wire before moving the panel too far away from the door.

It seems like a lot at first, but after you do it once, it becomes common sense and you can do it on most any car.

Ok I'll try it as soon as I can.
BTW being in the audio section. If I change my speakers, should I use new cables(which would mean getting all the cable to the dashboard) or I can use the old wires?
Thanks again for helping me out.

Just replacing speakers = use existing wiring. Unless you're upgrading to components and using an external amp, it isn't worth the effort to run new wire into the doors.

i didn't see you were running a 96GA. The info about the door panels is from my 2000 SE. The door panel screws could be in slightly different places, but i think you should be able to get to everything easily enough.
