Yeah I was told to get rid of the speed governor/limiter I have to reflash my ECU... Is this correct or is there another way to do it without spending money. I cant have the limiter for when I'm ready to take this thing to the track after more mods.

1. Your ECU cannot be reflashed.
2. Even with a load of mods, your car is going to be nowhere near hitting the speed limiter at the track.

I guess that depends on what track he is talking about...a half mile oval or street cross or something, that would be the only way...lol

As for what you need, you can get your PCM (Powertrain Control Module - not ECU in the GA) can be reprogrammed by a reputable source, which, by the way, one of our sponsors here can do.

I have a reprogrammed PCM on my car, and yes, the limiter has been removed, but it still takes me a mile or more to get past where the OEM limiter was set.

So, no, you can't do it without spending money.

He's not going to reach even a fraction of that speed doing autocross or similar amateur events. If he somehow got into an event that would reach those speeds (slim to none - need extensive safety gear and tech inspection) the car isn't safe at those speeds without suspension, tire, brake modifications.

PCM = ECU... same thing, several terms. Regardless of what you call it, he cannot have it reprogrammed. If he has the OBD 1.5 version, it cannot be reprogrammed, period. If he has the OBD 2.0 version (rare in 95) there currently isn't any software that supports flashing a retune on such an early OBDII PCM.

In other words, there's no easy way to do it, and no point to doing it anyway.

The whole autocross/oval was a jab anyway, I knew what he was talking about... and wow, that's news to me about the OBD version.

I said when I get to the track. I've hit the limiter already on closed secluded roads where I know for a fact no cars drive at certain times. About 110 is near where it cuts out. And yes it does get up to it easy. But how much does it cost to do the PCM? I just dont like being limited. What if I swap out for a 96 pcm? Possible?

Not possible.

And now that you stated you've been doing this on the streets...
