My stock HU was working but there was no sound coming over the speakers, so we got a new HU and same problem no sound, so I'm thinking its the stock amp, so I was wondering how to disconnect it or unhook it, any ideas?

Are you sure that you have the stock amp? It only came as part of the "Premium Stereo".

The tweeters were part of a middle stereo option, I think it was the radio with the 7-band EQ but I'm not sure. I have the tweeters too but no amp and I'm glad of that.
You'll have to disconnect the amp of everything and run new wires to the speakers. Not sure if the radio uses normal high level outputs or if it has RCAs, guessing high level, but just run those to the speakers and hope the ohm loads match.

rather than running new wires you can bypass the amp. this includes checking to see what color is used for the wires from the deck to the amp, then from the amp to the speakers. cut them on plug going to the amp, and connect them, now youll be powering the speakers off the amp in the radio. It wont be as loud, but thats how it is.

now the thing is, if you dont have ANY sound then this isnt your problem. I believe the front tweeters and one of the connections in your 6x9s are run off the deck itself, so those would still work if your amp didnt. if nothing works then its the output from the radio.

Doesn't a shorted wire on any of the speakers keep it from putting sound out? I thought I remembered a member having that problem a while back, no sound at all, and one of his wires was shorting.

well today there was a breakthrough kind of, when i put the faceplate on the new cd player, music came through the speakers, but only for about 2 seconds then nothing again, so now everytime i turn the car on or put the faceplate on the HU, the music kicks on but only for a few seconds then no music, it just stops and i must of had the middle stereo option, cause i do have the equalizer and the tweeters, but the manufacture date on the stock HU says its from 2001 and the car is a 2000 so i dont think it is the original HU

Check all of your speakers and connections, you may have a short somewhere causing it to cut out.
