Hey guys, I need help with brakes. I have looked around and saw that this is a common issue but I havent really gotten a definate answer or solution. My brakes feel spongy, you can press the brakes about 1/3 of the way down before the car starts to stop. Today I changed the brakes (it was due), bled and flushed the system to all four wheels but it still feels the same way. I can only assume that this is due to a booster or master cylinder? i dont know. Does anyone know what can be done to fix this? Thanks, Rob.

* Also I painted the calipers red since I had the wheels off and put slotted rotors on the front just for the look. Ill try to get some pics up. :-)

Mine have a similar issue, but I think I might have gotten some air in the MC when I replaced a caliper. Haven't had time to bleed it yet.

I bled my brakes myself with a vacuum tool. You hook one end of the hose to the bleeder valve amd pump... the fluid will go into a small cup attached to it. Its way easier then having someone step on the brake pedal. let me know if it helps though. Im really curious as to what will fix this issue.

I've actually heard that those vacume tools are bad for vehicles with ABS.

yeah it depends on what you have... certain ABS systems cant be bled with it. Ours is ok though. At least with the one I got. Im not sure about others but would imaginge its the same thing.

You must get the air out of the system. Any remainiing is gonna feel spongy. Now I assume you had a better feel before they wore out because the OEM brakes leave a lot to be desired. Anyway, if after the new rotors and pads and a proper bleed it is still spongy then maybe the MC. One other upgrade you might want to consider is new stainless steel covered lines to replace the rubber line. That thing does expand when in use and will cause the spongy feel if it's wearing out. When I put the SS lines on with new slotted rotors and pads the difference was night and day.
