Okay, so my stock speakers are pretty well shot. And I do possibly plan on eventually doing a decent system but for now I decided just to get some new speakers.
Well problem is I didn't realize it until I decided to change speakers that my car has the "Premium Sound" system...the one with the little Delco amp. Anyway there are the speakers I picked up.

I got both sets for $130 total.
So the front ones hooked up fine and easy.
The rears is where I am having trouble. Just as an example I'll use the left rear speaker;
It had two wires on each side going to it (thanks to the "premium sound" having a set for the "sub" and a set for the "tweeter". On this particular speaker there was a yellow and a brown wire on one side, and a blue and green on the other. So I figured I would just cut and splice the wires coming directly from the headunit. Which for that speaker should be brown and yellow.
However where the brown and yellow plug in on that side of the stock speaker it appears to have 8 or 10 ohms stamped on it, while the green and blue side has 4 ohms stamped there. So upon trying to install the new speaker if I attach the brown and yellow to the new one it works but there is like no bass, but it works regardless of if the amp is plugged in or not. If I attach the blue and green wires it only works if the amp is plugged in and and I even then its not very loud. The thing that I don't understand is why I get sound from the wires that were plugged into the spot that says "8 or 10 ohms" but I get little to nothing from the wires that were plugged into the "4 ohms" spot (confuses me since the new speakers are 4 ohm).
I also don't understand where all the wires are coming and going from. Because according to everything I can find the wires that send signal to the left rear speaker are a yellow one and a brown one. And there is a yellow and brown connected to the amp, but not another set coming out. Which leads to my confusion as to where the yellow and brown connecting to the speaker at that higher ohms spot are coming from (I thought maybe that yellow and brown split somewhere along the line, and then one of each went to the amp, and also to the speaker, but the power would be cut down greatly if it was running right from the headunit into an 8 or 10ohm speaker, so I don't know). There is however the blue and green that connect to the speaker coming out of the amp.
All I really want is for the sound to be decent and have a bit of bass. I don't have the money to pick up a sub or amp at the moment either, I just wanted something to replace the stock speakers and sound somewhat better.
Would the sound be better if I just ran new wiring from the headunit directly to the rear speakers?
Maybe if somebody could just make light of how this whole "Premium Sound" setup is rigged and how all the wires are connected or something? I just need an understand of what all is going on.
Any help is greatly appreciated on this. Hopefully I was clear enough in explaining everything, I'm tired and quite angry as of now haha.
