Has anyone swapped out the pulleys on their Grand Am? I had it done on my old Eclipse when i had my timing belt changed and it made a big difference. It looks alot easier to do on the GA since you don't have to take the engine apart.

I haven't heard much about pulleys here. Any feedback on results or where to get them appreciated.:)

i remeber someone saying a performace pulley will wear out the cam faster

I'm not an expert but from the way they work i don't see how that is possible. They both serve completely different purposes. The pulley is to lighten the load on the electrical system to give more power to the engine. The cams adjust the timing to peak performance.

Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong. I had both done on my Eclipse and had no problems or heard of any. The pulleys made much more difference than the cams. But than again i am used to rice burners.:)

I didn't think they were smaller, just lighter. So it causes it to pull easier with less strain.

It depends on what kind of car/engine it is, some aftermarket for certain cars use stock diameter but make it lighter and others (GAs) use both lighter and smaller crank pulley. check out www.fastfwdperformance.com/ud.htm I would like to see another companys results with stock size crank pulley made of aluminum in our engines, although longevity probably wont be as good

Thanks for the link. The price on that pulley was very cheap. I think i'll give them a try.:)
