Does that seem normal? I don't drive my car abnormally hard or anything like that. Last summer I put on new rotors and new pads (not any fancy type) on the front and today I start to get the grinding when I'm coming to a stop... should I really be having to change my brakes this soon??? Whats causing this?
Its not bearings/hub assembly those were replaced not too long ago and I'm aware of what a bad bearing sounds like. No ABS light, but sometimes my BRAKE light comes on and goes off after a max of 4 seconds or so.

It doesn't take long to check your pads to see how worn they are. Just jack it up and pull off the wheel and take a peak. If the warning light is coming on, there may be an issue somewhere. Maybe you have had a caliper sticking or something and that caused faster than normal wear.
The only time I have ever gone through a set of pads in under a year was when I was autocrossing all summer on EBC Green Stuffs. They worked great, but they didn't last very long.

If you're using GM rotors, its typical.
My G5 has 12K on the Odo after roughly 10 months of driving, and my front rotors are trashed.

My EBC power stops went crappy after about 9 months. I didn't have my rotors tested for run out ot turned a little before I used them. Learning lesson on my part but, you may have a similar issue if you did it yourself. Also, if your lug nuts were not torqued to proper specs (100 ft lbs tq) more torque on one side or the other of the wheel, has been known to mess up your rotors and in turn pads from uneven wear. Just an idea.

Just took the passenger side apart. The pads are definitely worn down... the outer pad at least. However, one side of the pad looks more worn than the other by a little bit which would lead me to think maybe one of the pins wasn't sliding well enough -- but theres definitely still grease in there and it slides fine.
The rotors aren't warped and they barely have any lip on it. Can I just put new pads on these rotors?
Still would like to know why this is happening before I go and put new pads on again.
