I'm not much of a car person, I know jack about under the hood. I do goto shows every so often to wander a look around though and have always thought it would be cool to be in one. I'm curious of what exactly it takes to be in one of these shows.

*correctly me, if I am wrong*
but I would say U need as much as Ur car and thats all.. I just like people looking at my car, even tho its stock and all (under the hood) .. There are many people who just have a nice good looking car, maybe some overlays etc..
Maybe someone else will give U a better advice :)

One word. Clean. If it's clean it's good, whether stock, street or modified. JMO.
Some shows do forbid daily drivers. Start with the most casual shows first.

Any suggestions on what I'd have to do to mine to be show worthy??

well I looked up pics of your car adn you have a pretty nice base. Usually to win in the stock class you car has to be real clean. depending on your competition. I mean little or no viseable dents. Upgraded wheels, clean itnerior, no rips or visible wear. Maybe a few paitned accents, adn a nice exhaust or intake. You might want to drop your car and throw atleast some nice 16's o 17's on there before you show it. Just a word of advice. But do it for the fun of it. Hell yeah its nice to win trophy's and stuff, but hard work unfortunetly doesnt out rule money. The people with the most money usually win the shows. Thats the nature of the ebast. Just try to be different. Try and set your self apart from the rest of the crowd. :agree:

First of all decide whether or not you are entering a day or night show. If its day all of the suggestions the guys gave you are good, and if its a night show get some lights baby. I owned a 00 GA last year, with only exhaust, and lots of cosmetic work, but no mods. I had an underbody neon kit and strobes with my stereo, and I won best new Domestic.

Three words for you...
"Attention To Detail"
You can have the best body kit, a loud system, and the nicest wheels but with a crappy paint job, rusty screws on your license plate, and hazey unpolished headlights your car is far from 'show condition'.
Nothing like a ultra clean car.
Detail EVERYTHING. Leave nothing untouched. When at a show I am constantly dusting and touching up finger prints and smudges.
Our GA is nearly stock and it recieved a trophy for 47th out of the top 50 cars. My bike also nearly stock received second place for sportbikes also being nearly stock.
Disply. A uncluttered car looks even cleaner. Remove all the trash from the trunk. Hide your keys, phone, cd's, etc. Have awards you wish to show neatly place them in front of the car and/or club signage.

Maybe attend a few shows and walk around to see what others are doing to get their rides show ready. I usually just drive about 500 miles or so, wipe all the bugs off my fascia, do a quick rub with some California Shine and just hang out. I get more pleasure just sitting back and watching other enthusiests talk about, point their fingers, poke thier heads in the window, and show a genuine appreciation for the hard work I've done. Winning isn't the most important thing when entering shows. Just make sure you have a great time and talk to others and share ideas. Thats the best way to enjoy the shows.

My car only has tint, kenwood sound system, rims, vinyl darts on the door trim and vinyl over the yellow corner lenses. I have never done judged, but I have entered my car into the shows - I still have gotten a lot of looks and compliments just because it is clean and very detailed. Judges have even started the judging process before realizing that it wasn't in a class. I do it just for fun and hang out with my teams.
Oh, Grand Impressions and AED took home 4 places this weekend at the Syracuse show. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for Pontiacs and 3rd for best SUV. Len and Suzanna kick ass.
:agree: Everybody has given you great advice here. I'll give you some, based on observation and my personal take on shows.
I don't do shows, my car isn't good enough. But I do go to them and enjoy them very much. I just love cars. If I was you, or even if I was to start doing shows, I would view it as a hobby, something you do for yourself. Never mind winning. Just enjoy what you are doing, the results you get from working on your car and the time spent with others that are like-minded. Learn as you go. Ask questions. Meet people. Make friends. And if you win a trophy or plaque or two, that is just GREAT!
Have fun!
And good luck. I hope you have a great time if you decide to go into some shows.

If I ever was to enter I wouldn't be expecting to win. Like was said I do what I have to my car cause I enjoy it and having others like how it looks is a great thing.

Casual Cruise-Ins are also a lot of fun and many big contests also allow you to enter in a display class which I've done a lot. I still like to detail everything so as not to look out of place amongst the trophy contenders...

Oh so there are actually ones that you can basically just pull up to and be looked at?

Absolutely! We have a weekly Sunday night Cruise-In in my local town and there are Cruise-Ins all over the place here. You could hit one every night if you had the time. We have a web page that lists them all and also seperate secions on Shows and Swap Meets.
