as you all know im piecing together the car i just got, and this had to happen. im doing not so well with extra cash, so i finally got a nice Pioneer cd player in, but only had it for two weeks. someone last night bent the damn door jamb/frame open to open my door (since i have no handles). they took the radio, but not my speakers. guess that was lucky cause the speakers are Precision Power components that were $260 3 years ago. but anyway, they took my damn radio, and bent up the door. i bent the frame back into shape today and the door closes, buit there is still a gap here and there and the window doesnt sit right, so i had to seal with some foam for now. looks like i untimately need a new door. but if "Mirage" contacts me, i might be able to get his shaved doors he is selling, which has the channel shaved also (so you guys can shut up about that haha) but anyway yeah im furious :(

damn that was a quick response, i just posted 2 seconds ago hahaha. but yeah hopefully i can make that happen, cause funds are limited but i also dont wanna have ghetto-ass problems with the door and window. cause also, when i bent it back, the window clips broke and now the window doesnt roll up. i have a piece of wood trim inside the door holding it up (keefer aka Keith has this done also :) )

:wow: Im very shocked they spent the extra effort on getting into the car! I figured when i shaved my door handles i would be even "safer" than i already am with my alarm. I do agree, that the guy who did this must be jacked. Im suprised he bent the whole frame of the door. Then again you live in Philly so i wouldnt put it past anybody :poke:

Not as hard to do as it looks. I've done similar things when people have locked keys in their car. Obviously not to that extent but its really not that hard. I don't see how the roof would get damaged they were pulling on the door.

+1
Last week I locked my keys in the trunk at the Autozone parking lot :banghead:
The service guys showed up with an air-compressor thingy and a coathanger, and had my car open in 10 seconds flat .
Id make a guess that that's what happened here. Except
A) My guys took 10 seconds because they were being careful to NOT do what the crooks did to the doorframe. They prolly stuck the air bellows in the crack and just pumped in a hurry, thus damaging the OP's car the way it is.
After seeing that with my own eyes,Id state theres no point to buying a security system or a fancy HU. Not if a $5 bellows and coathanger grants you access to my hard earned system. :(

only thing I can think of to combat that problem in the future is to invest in a HU with a removeable face like mine is, granted it's a little old but I like it. it really sucks that some people just can't deal with the fact that they don't have what some people work hard for...

How about alarm sensors at the top of the door so when they are pried upon, the siren goes off.

03graystone
06-11-2008, 10:11 PM
in a short while i myself will be an armed guard. i never had a problem parking in front of my apartment, cause theres many windows to spy, but i had it next to this huge church on the corner this time around, where no one can see anything happening. it wont happen again. newer and better head unit is goin in, along with some nice as stereo soon, hopefully within the month or two. i plan on another premier Pioneer, two JL audio amps (one from here) and a Alpine 12 (from here). and the shit is getting bolted in every angle like my old stuff was in the gray 03 GA. it took me almost 30 minutes when i used to mess with my other car to get stuff out, and thats with me knowing where the hidden screws are. i also had torx screws, suare head screws, etc. theftproof all the way. this time i was lazy with my headunit, but they didnt get the components.

I've seen a lot of messed up crap here (plexiglass + Ducttape TTops on a Monte Carlo), but thats the first time I've seen that happen to ANY car. But now that I think about it, this car is weak right there, all the structural support is in the body.

No sympathy
And my apologies for being so blunt, and I don't mean to be hating you (i'd have the same response to anyone who said what I just quoted you), but this should serve as a reminder to ANYONE who has even a slightly modded car. Thieves aren't stupid... they aren't going for the new kia or the base model civic... They are going for the car with the kit, the rims, the lights, the drop, etc... Things that draw attention to your car make your car a target... To NOT take the .000005 seconds it takes to hit ONE button that pops off your faceplate to make your car less likely to be broken into (and ensure that if someone steals your radio they won't be able to use it either) is absolutely ridiculous...
PC Version- thats unfortunate, thieves suck, bla bla bla

Gus brings up a good point. I was waiting for a guy at Sam's club last Saturday and watch a lady get out of her car and drop her purse in the trunk. She walked into the store.
I told my wife that if someone wanted a purse, all they needed was a dent puller and 30 seconds. I knew that lady would not be back to her car for a half hour and it would be real easy to pop the lock, take the purse and drive off.
If you're hiding stuff in your trunk, don't do it when you get to your destination. Do it a block or two away.

I'm sorry for the way I came off yesterday Alex, it is rather rude of me to say "no sympathy" as i'd be hella pissed if stuff was stolen from me. It definitely only takes that one time too man, I know from experience (not personally) but i've had friends that all have that removable plate, and it's a "oh i'm just running in" or "it's right outside the window" type thing said and then BAM! It's gone... Which brings me to Jim's quote

Your trunk, your arm rest, it doesn't matter. Seconds is all it takes... Member that kid who stole Rob's stuff out of his metro while he was at school? About 45 seconds is all he took/needed
Everyone at Albany 05 saw my demonstration on how long it too to break into the ga that had the keys in it... These cars suck for security, so just make sure you take out everything you want to keep, EVERYTIME you get out of your car

:bigjoe: = Darrin.......:bolt: = ""F"in little pukes!
Trust me!! That is what Darrin would do. I came home yesterday from work and I figured he was taking a nap. I quietly came in the front door, Bandit (our oldest male cat) was walking on one of my toolboxes. The tool box fell with a crash. I picked it up and put it back, not thinking anything about it and quietly walked upstairs thinking that won't wake Darrin up. Well, Darrin wasn't asleep. He thought I was a burglar or something and I was greeted at the top of the stairs by and angry looking Darrin with a baseball bat. Good thing he recognizes his target before striking. So, yeah, I believe that Darrin would do that. "F" with his stuff, you will have to "F" with him!

That sucks man. I had a friend whose truck was broken into almost the same way but when the thieves couldn't get the door pried away far enough they broke into the back of his truck through the truck cap, slid between the cap and cab of the truck through the sliding windows. All they stole was some money and a pack of cigarettes that were sitting in plain view. The money that was there was no more than 5-6 dollars in change. What I'm surprised by is the window on your car not shattering when they pulled the door like that. Well good luck with everything man.
