I know for my gen, the Bilstein/Manta are the best, but rather expensive.

KYB GR-2's are NICE on our cars.

how good are the struts by kyb on a 99 Grand AM. I'm lowering the car as well so they have 2 be stiff.

are you just dropping the car with regular drop springs? like h&r, eibach, etc? If you are, why bother with new struts? they aren't needed. i heard KYB matched with intraxx springs are a nice combo. I have had eibach and stock struts and the ride was perfect for me. I have rode in a GA with intrax and stock struts and the ride was like stock. I don't know why everyone thinks you need to get struts with really good damping when they are just using drop springs.
Now, if you are going to do something custom like coilovers with 200# or 300# spring rates, yes you will need something like the KYB GR-2's. I have the GR-2's with 200# springs all the way around on my coilovers. rides perfect for me.

what do you mean? yes i have coilovers on my car. that includes 200# springs and threaded sleeves and rings. all custom made.(besides the springs of course)
those are coilover sleeves, real coils have threads on struts.
