First thing I should say is that I am new to this forum. I recently bought a 2003 GA from a small used car dealer. It came with no keyless entry remotes. I have since found out that SE does not have that option. Problem is that I don't know if I have a SE 1. I've looked at options list not much help. I've looked up the RPO codes, I can't tell for sure that way for sure either. Is there a sure way to find out?

Not really that easy I had documentation from the original purchase of the car that told me. Normally the SE 1 had power windows, and cd player ect... most common thing to see an SE1 is the windows I believe maybe the mirrors too.

Thanks for the replies. We took it to the GM dealer and were told it didn't have keyless entry. There's no box (computer?) in the trunk for keyless entry? Does this sound right?

There are no RPO codes for SE, SE1 or SE2, as they are simply option packages. And unlike Honda, you can actually order almost any trim level with almost any individual option, without getting it through a package deal.

Since you don't have the control box on the rear deck, I'd venture a guess that yours is a base SE without the keyless entry option. To see for sure, look for RPO code AUO on the underside of the spare tire cover. If you don't have that code, then you don't have RKE. :)

Hm, when I first got my GA I did a look up of all my RPO codes, granted it is an '01.
" W46 - MODEL CONVERSION PONTIAC GRAND AM "SE1" "
Forget what site I came up with that, but from the research RPO codes that begin with W are trim level codes.
Oh found the site!
