3400 with a 5 speed? That had to be an interesting swap. More details please.

Sounds nice if I know the 3400 swap probably had to use a 2200 bellhousing with a HM282 transmission. I'd love to see the shifter in the console

what was more interesting to me is that the 93 didnt come with a 3100 it had the 3300 or the 4 banger. So mounts and everything would of have to been fabbed up.

Sweet pics!
3400 5-speed swaps can be done pretty regulalry, I've seen plenty of Berettas done up like that. GA's...not so much.

Yea I know they can the thing is the 93 came with a 3300 which = a lot of work to go to 3400

True. Almost every 3400/5-speed Beretta I saw was a previous-3100 car.

Car was origionally a Q4 H.o powered car. I used the stock quad 4 tranny after i changed the bellhousing from a 93 sunbird tranny. Used stock tranny mounts. The other mounts are 3100 Grand am mounts. the bottom motor mount came from an achieva with a 3100. Shifter linkage and stuff is all original. i used a sunbird ecm and wiring harness and modified it to work with the grand am. Stock instuments. have yet to get the intake put on, still awaiting piecex.

Nice ride, I would just get that front bumper painted.
Where's the interior pics?

Sounds like a good project but why all that work for an extra 10hp?

more potential. Loads more torque. I dont have any luck with quads, they like to blow up. car seems like a rocket sled now :D

thats an interesting swap, on a scale of 1 to 10, how hard was it (ten being the hardest)

:???: more potential then a quad

on a scale of 1 to 10 i would give it a 5 or 6. Hardest part was all the wiring.
I say more potential then a quad due to the fact that i have gone through 3 of them that have all done the same thing (spun bearings). I had the 3400 laying around from my old cavalier, and plan to turbo it this winter. lots more room in the GA compaired to the cav, due to the way the tranny mounts are.

That was my thought... I haven't seen a 3400 break 400hp.

Thats a lot of good work, though I disagree with the 3400 having more potential then a quad.Out of curiosity were the spun bearings oil pres. related?BTW nice ride!

Interesting combination. Gave up on ABS? Or just too much more wiring to deal with?
Not sure why everyone keeps questioning his choice. It is an interesting and potent setup no matter how you cut it.

I wasn't questioning his choice, just his statement about potential. I'd imagine the 5-speed 3400 is going to make a lot of the 5th gen owners jealous.

I was questioning his choice but none the less its a unique setup and he likes it thats what matters.

I just cut out all the ABS. it would have been a PITA to keep due to the way the its wired in the grand am harness VS the Sunbird harness. I plan on removing everything that has to do with it, and swap to a non ABS master to give me some more room when i start the turbo build.
