Hey guys

I was just curious about selling this car, what would you guys recommend and how much do you think I should expect to get out of this.

Its a 2000 pontiac grand am with just under 100,000 miles, it has one month old tire and the rest of the tires are decent, all 4 power windows don't work as they need replacement window regulators and of course you can see the damage, thats really the only damage on the call, it still drives fine but I do have a new car now so id like to just get rid of it for what i can.

I've heard different suggestions of selling a car such as at a salvage auction or selling it for parts and then selling it to a junk yard after that or listing it locally in a news paper or possibly ebaying the thing, im just curious what you guys would suggest and a price i could possibly get

Some of those freebie "auto trader" type local papers (found at local businesses) have a repairable/rebuildable section. I would find some of those, and place an ad there.

If you put it in the regular newspaper, no matter how good your describe it, you'll have 100 morons calling you asking "is there anything wrong with it?" and similar stupid questions from people that cannot grasp the concept that "needs major work" doesn't mean a perfect car.

I totally agree with the last poster, I put it on an online classified site thats based locally, I described EVERYTHING and they are still like "can you go into detail about the damage" read the stinkin ad woman!

Thanks for the advice guys , I got to apply for a lost title so ill do that and then ill decide what i want to do next, i may just try an ad and if that doesn't work then ill just part it out and then get it to the junk yard after that

Does it have a salvage title? It won't be worth crap if it does just part it out and scrap it.

Definately be up front about everything damage wise. Considering it was totaled out and the milage, I would probably expect no more than $2000 out of it, but realistically I'd say around $1000. Place ads around a local college campus or something, or go on ebay... you'll find someone who will buy a cheap car either for just parts or to fix up enough to make legal and then drive around.
