CarDomain recently sat for lunch with GM car czar Bob Lutz, and one of the topics that came up was the ever-vanishing manual transmission. Lutz explained that modern automatics are no longer the less efficient option by default, and with CAFE dictating so much nowadays, carmakers can actually lower their fleet average fuel economy more by going with automatics that can be programmed to deliver maximum efficiency (as far as the EPA is concerned, at least). He then went on to state that there will be manuals available in both the Camaro and the 2009 Pontiac G8 GT, which gets a 6-speed unit from Tremec. So if you waited on Poncho's new muscle sedan, your patience will be rewarded. Of course, your patience will also got you a price increase (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/18/pontiac-g8-gt-no-longer-fastest-car-under-30k/) too, but at least those dopey digital auxiliary gauges (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/12/useless-pontiac-g8-auxiliary-gauges-going-away-for-2009/) will be gone, as well.

Wish I could find one to test drive. All dealers around her have the V6 verison. Which BTW I think is completely retard that the two look exactally the same.

You should take one on a test drive anyways to get a feel for the car. Ive heard that the V6 model is just as great handling as the big brother.

Personally its a great move to get the M6 in the car. Im betting it gets the T6060 which is a GREAT transmisson.

Nah, I dont plan on buying one anytime soon. (maybe in 5 years to be realistic) But if I do it wont be a daily driver, more a weekend family toy, so I'd op for the V8 for sure.
