Question. Has anyone ever noticed that the SE2 V6's have different side skirts than SE1's?
Heres pics to show :

See how mine is a straight flare line from the rear wheel to the front passenger door, then kicks down by the front?
Now look at this skirt ;(Credit Nick @ Cardomain)

Notice how it just accents the wheels, then just blends in in the middle similar to the GT lower trim?
Where can I get that trim piece/part besides a GM dealer?I think the second bottom trim would look nice with a lowered car. Esp. in white. :D

The second picture is the original design for the '99 + model GA's. Gm had to many complaints of paint damage in front of the rear tires so modified the item to better block debris and crap from front tires flying up and hitting that area.

Ditto.
There is no difference between SE, SE1 and SE2 trim, just to clarify. They changed the rocker panel design partway through the 1999 production year to address paint chip concerns. There is a TSB out on the issue, although I've long since lost my copy of it.
Kelly was successful in having the new-design rockers installed under warranty on his 1999, while I was not.
Here's what the old design resulted in with my early '99:

Tru dat. A guy has a stock white GA SE2 V6 who parks in the same neighborhood I do. I passed by his car wondering what about it bothered me so much (besides duct taping his drivers mirror). Then I looked down and was like "WTF? He's got different side skirts! Holy sh*t"
Since his car was an SE2, I assumed it was a difference of trim equipment, and not because of a defect in the original design.
I passed by his car this morning and noticed the paint defects, so I won't be changing to the original look lol.
I suppose its a dead giveaway to tell a '99 GA from an '00.
I accidentally discovered GA history ...go figure.

That it is, and even more specifically, an early '99. :)

... yeah, the later 99s had the 'lipped' version but most had the 'non-lipped' style ... mine originally had them but I talked GM into changing them out before the warranty ran off being I didn't drive my car much and by the time I eventually seen problems due to the faulty design, I would have been over the warranty :) ... I much prefer the 'lipped' :yippee:

That is interesting, I have an early '99 SE2 though it has the 2.4L in it, original owner wanted the smaller motor...dang him, but so far I have no chips due to a chip guard that was installed factory, although I had a deer run into the passengers side and when they repainted it, they never chip guarded it, just paint. Already noticing a slight chip mark, but the car never see's gravel roads, even living in the country. All in all I still like my old rockers better than the lipped version, more stream line on a coupe.

Thats some sick rust Mayhem, thankfully when they took my rocker off the passengers side, there was no rust, although the cars washed nearly everyother day.

You can't have an SE2 with the 2.4L, as the SE2 package included the 3400 V6. You may, however, have an SE1. Not that it matters though, as the SE1 and SE2 were simply option packages.

A while back I had found a spec site for the GA's and an SE2 was listed standard with the V6 but optional I-4 2.4L. There were listed only a few SE2's that were produced with the 2.4L.

That information is incorrect. There are many glaring mistakes all over that page.

Well then, can anyone tell me what truelly defines a SE2 trim package, since I have every option excluding a sunroof, when all most all GA's I see do not have the audio controls on the steering wheel, and only have 15" rims were as I have 16's all factory.

You have an SE1 if you have the 2.4. The SE2 HAD to have the 3400.
You can go down to the dealer and ask for a dealer order sheet. That will show you what options you had.
Or you can find an RPO decoder and type in all your RPO codes that are on your driver side door to find what options you had.

Sounds like a loaded-up SE1 to me. :) But does it really matter? It's still the same car, regardless of the option package. :)

An SE2 has hollow headrests ,3400 V6 only.
Put a different way,2.4 SE2s dont exist.
You just cant judge a GA's trim by its looks.Besides, you really have the better motor mod wise.

Wait a minute... my GA SE has hollow headrests, 6 performance speakers, 6 way adjustable drivers seat, audio controls on the steering wheel, 16" rims (factory), and a few other options... these options I don't ever see on other SE's let alone GT's, so I'm just kinda confused now, cause a lot of people tell me that SE2's or only GT's have these options but mine seems to have a combination of all, with just a I-4 2.4L. I do know for sure that it is an early
'99 due to rocker panel.

USE THIS TO DETERMINE WHAT OPTIONS IT HAS!!!!
http://cadillacfaq.com/rpo/index.php
All you have to do is get all your RPO codes from your driver side front door and enter them in. It will tell you what package the car has and what options were ordered on it.

Well, couple things that I am confused about ...
#1 ~ What the heck is the 3.42 ratio?? AFAIK, SEs are 3.05 but that could be just the V6
#2 ~ the 1SC Package includes the V6 so if your car has the 1SC, it should have the V6 ... again

Well fellas, I freakin confused myself...lol...everything I find says SE2, and yes I know you all say it should have a 3400 V6, but it does not, I ran the vin today at work and it is calling for the I-4 2.4L which is in it, also I got a car fax report... just for the hell of it to garuantee everything... Carfax has it listed as an SE2, friend asked what was written on the title, just says SE, doesnt have a trim package break down. So do I just have one of those one of a kind mistakes made at the factory and should have the V6 or maybe theres more that I don't know about the car.... 1st gen '99 made....LOL...nah, but who knows.
Like I said I'm confused now, but most info found lists as SE2.

Either one of two things has happened:
One,an SE2 GA was OEM fitted with the wrong engine.
Two:Tigers GA was a spec SE1 ordered/equipped as an SE2 and is a victim of a paperwork glitch by GM.
Barring additional info,Im leaning toward option 2,as how can an SE trans have a GT final drive?
And was a -45E trans installed OEM with a 2.4?

Got me! but what is the difference in a -45E trans, not sure what would be listed for a SE compared to a GT. Could it have been a SE2 special order? I contacted the previous owner today and asked if he had any accidents or if he had modded the car any. He stated that there had been no changes on the car, it was all original till I started modding it, no engine mod, and I also asked him about the trunk, being that my grand am badge is above my key hole and he said that it had always been that way, so from the factory it was placed above the key hole. That much I know for sure, just another odd thing about the car, since all grand ams I've seen so far have the badge below the keyhole.
