i wanna try to put 245 tire on a 17 inch rim is the possible
what size rim do i need 17x7 ? 17x8 ? 17X8.5 ?
please help me out
thanks
There is a tire size tool that I think is stickied and it takes you to a miata website where you can plug in your stock size and it'll give you options for +1 +2 +3... etc sizings.
If I remember correctly, a 17x7 will fit a 245 alright, just need to read the comments about how much closer to the brakes/suspension those tires will be.
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html is the site.
I would go with a 8" wheel if you want to run a 245 tire.

Nope im kinda lost into what your asking. You have 17" rims and want to put 18" rims? Or you want 17" rims up in front and 18" in the back? Im confused. 17" would work fine. Whats the inch drop on the intrax springs? With of the tire may be an issue since it may rub.

I have 18x8 wheels and have no rubbing, depends on the offset if the 18x9 will rub.

well i like rims that have big lips on them:
i was wondering if you all new if 17x8 in the front and 17x9 in the back have any effect like rubbing and wat not on my 03 gagt thats got intrax springs
some reponse would help me out alot
oh and you think would i have to get my fenders rolled if i did this?
well i like rims that have big lips on them:I like girls like that .... ;) Seriously , i'd go 17X8 with a 40mm offset , that should be fine depending on the rim .

Why put wider rims on the back of a FWD car? All that will accomplish is shortening the life of the tires because you will not be able to rotate front to back.

well first ppl put wider wheels on the back of FWD cars to get a completely different look
and secondly ... just wait it will look good trust me
Different size rims and tires on a FWD vehicle is not recommended , the handing will be altered ( understeer / oversteer issues ) . Also there isn't alot of clearance in the rear because of the strut . The offset required may result in rubbing issues ... :roll2: But whatever :)

need more info.
offset? tire size? lowered/plan to lower?
The rim will fit fine if you don't intend to put any rubber on it.

Unless someone else says otherwise from experience, I'm gonna tell you they won't fit.
My 8" wide wheels with 235mm's of tread in the rear are <5 mm (<1/4 inch) away from the strut perches with a 42 mm offset.
Unless you intend to modify the strut perches, those rims will be too wide. Only thing I might suggest if you *insist* on having wider tires in the rear would be to go with a 30 mm offset/245's.

so a lower offset and use 245's?

well my rims are 19x 9.5 and they fit. They DO rub a bit, but after I roll the fenders a bit it should be all good

if you intend to use that 9" rim, yes.
I expect said combination will be *very* close. I make no guarantees.
that 245 will be stretched out a bit on the rim.
Personally I'd recommend just sticking with what is tried and true on these cars. I haven't seen anyone try a 9" rim on a GA before, so you're in unchartered territory. Everyone seems to go 7.5-8.0 inch rims.
If you know the shop well that you're dealing with, perhaps they would let you test fit the rim/tire combo before you buy? (if it's in stock.)
Take a look under your car and look for the strut perch I'm talking about. Get a bit more familiar with tire size calculator, and read up on rim offsets/backspacing etc. It took me a week of casual reading to get familiar with these terms back when I started learning about wheel fitment.

holy hell.
mind if I ask the offset/tire size?

not sure of the offset. They are hand me downs, but the tire size is 235/45/19
here's a pic tho

Use matching wheel sizes, otherwise it will be detrimental to handling on a FWD car.

matching wheel sizes ??? explain more

Unless you like oversteer (rear end spins out), use identical size wheels on all 4 corners.
