I've always liked K&N.

if money isnt a problem, get the K&N system, if money poses a problem, the piping doesnt really matter, just run a K&N filter...the filter is the main part.

There is no such thing as a K&N CAI for are Grand Am's. Check out are sponsors. The best intakes for are cars go inside the fenderwell. Customgrandam.com and MPRacing.com both sell them. Customgrandam.com has a sale on there BLUE CAI's for only $145 with free shipping

lol lots except myself, im either gonna pick up the true CAI 3 piece from chromeintake or their WAI with TB pipe, would much prefer a cold air box over the true CAI for ease of cleaning the filter

Most people say 1 MPG or less, and anywhere from 5-10 HP (but it'll sound like you added a lot more).
Those #s seem to match my install pretty well..

It adds a nice deep sound too. I have just a cone on the stock tubing and it sounds a lot better.

the best CAI is the cheapest one from Ebay that you can find (most of the time its Chrome Intakes). the best filter for the job would be a K&N. I have used the AEM driflow filter in my elantra, and those are more suited towards SRIs as water damages the filter way too quickly.
you will spend about half, maybe less than the sponsors on the piping (but supporting the sponsors is always a good thing). the filter is where an intake really "shines" piping is just that, piping

well, go to ebay and search up car parts... find a 2-3 piece CAI for the grand am for the 3400 (i found a 2pc from chrome intakes for about 40 shipped). the filter it comes with is great, and i use that when i clean the K&N filter that i have and rotate those two over the course of a year.

i love mine. after buying accord intakes for next to nothing and chopping them to fit an elantra, getting an intake from a reputibale company (like chromeintakes) there is no going back for me. if CI makes a kit for whatever my next car is, then i will buy from them. they have my business for life as far as im concerned.

car modding can be expensive for parts, but the smart modder knows how to find the best parts for less

ya with my old car, i could get hook ups & find the right parts all day long, & then starting totally over again on a new car...its like more tiring than it was with my old one.

If I were you I would buy pipe, couplers, and a filter and make it yourself. Cheap. Satisfying.

should i continue?
SappySE107
06-30-2008, 07:20 PM
Why would you continue? I mean, if you wanna find one that doesn't use most of the stock system (aka the ribbed tubing that creates turbulence before the TB), then keep looking. I hadn't seen them so I asked. Normally its a cone filter in the engine bay for that price.
Vampyrate
06-30-2008, 07:40 PM
i wasj ust saying... even the ribbed tubing left behind than the entire stock system with random 90+ degree turns. im happy with the two piece setup that i have, now if i could just get the money together to get a muffler that i would be happy with

Do not throw your OEM airbox away, you might want it back. IMHO, those things does not make enough of an impact for me to spend the money and/or spend my time installing it.

i dont have pics, but i can do it in my sleep.
jack up the driver front and take off the wheel
take out the wheel well liner and the surrounding liners under the bumper
find any screw or bold attached to the stock tubing and take it out
replace stock tubing and airbox with the aftermarket products
enjoy
