Don't buy the touuch up paint in the auto stores, it never matches. Instead, get it in a spray or even normally from a body shop or that same parts store. It'll cost a bit more but it's more accurate. With the normal paint you put a dab of hardener in and put it on like normal touch up paint.

My suggestion would be go to a local auto paint shop and have them computer color match the paint. It costs a little more but it will be a perfect match even for faded paint.

I think why you were having a hard time finding the color is because youve got the wrong code. Usually its a letter and two numbers. I think white (because I had a white car) was like 44U or something like that.
I know that black is 41U because Ive got a black car now.
Actually after some digging your color is:
Gold Metallic Clearcoat 60U.
GM didnt make a Grand Am in driftwood metalic. It was a GMC color apparently, that is why its off a little bit.

hmm, i looked it up in duplicolrs book under 2000 pontiac paint code 5322 which it said it was driftwood metalic, duplicolors number for this color is dsgm457. The color code on my tire cover has the same vin number as the car. But i bet you this is why it is off alittle. Thanks for the input

it's a different code sometimes with different paint manufacturers. ususally it can be crossreferenced between the different manufacturers though.
