Blower gets a tap to get going

Ok, I have NO speed on my climate control. 1,2,3,4,5, nothing works on my 97 GA 6cylinder. I had the blower resistor and changed it. Let me tell you something, there is no thought on how these engineers put the damn car together. You have to be 5 years old to get in there and turn these screws.

Anyway, the blower resistor was changed. Guess what? Same thing. I got so mad that I hit the blower from the engine bay...and its ON!!!! The blower goes on. I get back into the seat and play with it. Turning it on, off, etc. Guess what? It goes off again. I go out and tap it again, it goes. Is this the blower going? SHould I replace the blower?

Your blower motor brushes are too short. They get hung up in the brush holder and tapping knocks them down.

Best bet is to replace the motor. You could take the motor apart and see if you can find replacement brushes. You would be left with a motor with worn bushings and a worn commutator.
