Well guys, i've got a question. It's not related to a ga, but you guys have been helpful in the past so hopefully you will keep it that way :)

I now have a 94 mustang gt, but the problem is, the previous owner had it in his backyard and his dog climbed all over the front fenders and hood and put scratches all over it (You can't feel them, but you can feel them. They are like white and gray) and I was wondering what somebody would suggest for getting rid of them. I don't think they are down to the metal or primer (even though they are white and gray), because you can't feel them when you run your hand across it.

I've tried using scratch doctor compound on it to get the scratches out, and it does a good job on the small ones, but the big ones are just too much for it. Do you guys think I should use a harder compound, or see about getting some of that touch-up spray can and just fixing it that way?

Don't have the money to have the car repainted, just trying to make it look nice until the rest of the work gets done to it.

Do You Have Any Experience With A Buffer If So I Would Try To Use A Light Compund And Buff Them Out And Then Follow It Up With A Swirl Remover And Then Wax Keep Working The Scratches Lightly Make Sure Not To Burn Through The Clear

any reason for capitalizing every letter in the sentence? :???:

Instead of doing it all by hand or using a rotary buffer (which could burn the paint and usually requires a little experience before use on a job like this), go to Home Depot or other hardware store and pick up a cheap Random Orbital buffer. Its pretty much impossible to burn the paint with one of these, and will make the job a lot easier and faster for you. I searched really quickly and found this one. Im sure theres others out there this is just an example of a cheap RO.

Also, if your FINGERNAIL catches on the scratch, then it is a scratch you won't b able to get out b/c its too deep. Its not if you run your hand across it. If your fingernail does catch on these scratches, you can try to make them look better, but prob not get rid of them entirely.

Lastly, how many passes of the compound did you try on the scratches?

It'd be helpful if you posted pics of the scratches you are talking about.

...waiting for a reply. :)

By The Way I Did Not Capatilize Everyone It Automatically Did It And Yes You Are Correct Either Way Would Work And It Don't Take A Rocket Scientist To Buff And Not Burn Through The Paint

Thanks for the input guys, unfortunately it looks like it's going to need to be repainted :( Took it to the local trust worthy body shop and they tried buffing it out (spent about 45 minutes on it), and they couldn't get it much better, either. They suggested that I repaint it, and told me they'd only charge me 850 to get it done. That's not what I wished to hear, but whatever makes it look good.
