I am sorry, My brother is stupid and thinks he knows it all.
He is dumb and don't know squat!! My 99 Grand Am GT1 does need a Body kit, but it does not have 450hp it has a measley 200hp.... I think.... I do run 105 octaine all the time and I did reprogram the computier to run this fuel.. I wish I had never done this.. I was mentaly challanged the day I did this, cause I hade $$ in my pocket and it was burning a hole in it..... I do hane a NOS fogger kit for it, but it has never been installed... Its a dream and a wish.... I think I am alittle scared to put it on, frade it will blow the engine. I wanted to post this mssg. because I dont want to cause a fuss in this forum, and I want to stay a member of the GA OWNERS CLUB!!!:angel1:

who's fighting.
I simply asked what the point of the post was.
Also, reprogrammed for high octane will not give you 200

How much is 105 per gallon? Do you get this from a track or from a regular gas station? No place around here carries 105, but when we had a Sunoco it had 101 I believe.

what had happened is he posted a post looking for a body kit. He also stated with just his NOS, K&N drop in, and re-programmed PCU he was running 450hp to the wheels. Ofcoruse we all called BS on that. But appereantly that was not him posting it, it was his brother. So there was obviously a mixup.
With your mods, NO NOS you probably at around 180hp to the crank. not sure what that is to the wheels.

Best use for 105 is if he wanted to run larger than 75 shot on his motor because of it burning slower it will avoid detonation. He'd need a bigger fuelpump though :D

what everyone is pretty much trying to say is, with the limited modifications you have, there really is no need for 105octane fuel for everday driving. You would be fine with just the premium fuel.

By the way, 100 low lead runs for 2.79/gal in Maryland.

hah your paying 2.79 for gas? I am still doing the 1.46 unleaded regular. in Ohio. Maybe when i get my intake and exhaust i might go up a little but 2.79 for gas is ridamndiculous

Must be nice!!! It cost almost $3 here too.
And I maybe wrong but I thought racing/airplane fuel wasn't unleaded.

yea it is, well the 110 octane is, the 120 and up tho is leaded. if my friend ran leaded fuel in his stock car he would have problems.
I call bullshit. No one runs 105 from a computer reprogram.

He doesn't understand that the octane rating of the fuel he uses has nothing to do with the amount of power his engine produces. He doesn't need 105 octane, but I do believe he uses it, and wastes lots of money on it.

prolly old post, but i got full msd ignition and i run 110 octane mixed in with 93.
anyhow, 110 usually runs about 5.99 a gallon, so i only do 2 gallons of it per fill up lol. still fun ^.^

Im wondering why you are blowing money out the tailpipe on high octane unless you are/were having problems with knock. You dont have any mods listed that warrent anything higher than 87 octane...

The question is, why waste your time and yourmoney running 110 octane?
Are you running a static compression over 11:1, or have like 15+ pounds of boost?

I like to run 91 or 93 normally. It just seems to run better with the middle of the road octane. I'll drop to 89 on occasion, but rarely will I go to 87.

honestly, iv noticed my car runs WORSE on anything higher than 89, less power, seems gutless, just doesnt like it
run 87 almost always, sometimes fill up with 89 but rarely
and those prices I was talking about in Canada, 1.17 a litre thats for 87

if ure not boosted and ure running anything besides 87 octane, you are wasting your money, and potentially damaging the motor... but good luck to ya :)

To make this simple, it is because higher octane has more additives to make the fuel safer and more stable. The additives dilute the energy stored in the fuel so you'll get less power if your car doesn't require higher octane.
It's like adding water to vodak, it's safer, but it'll have a lot less kick. lol

the average price around me for 87 right now is $3.38... it sucks :S
