5.7 liter V-8 aluminim block engine at 350 hp @ 5200 rpm, 365 lbs.-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. It has the same basic engine config as a chevy corvett. It has a high lift cam shaft and an increased airflow induction. It is an Hydramatic 4L60-E four speed automatic or a six speed manual close to a corvett Z06. 3.46 drive axel rwd. It runs 0-60 in 5.5 sec and a 1/4 mile in 14 sec at a speed of 105. The top speed of the car is 160mph. Disc brakes all around. The speedometer stops at 240mph. This is a bad ass car. Lets see if anyone can guess what it is. In a few days i will let the answer out.

well if it isnt a base model vette then im going to have to say Camaro Z28 or SS or 35th ED. or Trans Am WS6 or 35 Ed. TA
I'm guessing Cadillac XLR.

well Im pretty sure the SS and WS6 are at 335hp but I could be wrong. I know they have the LS1 with Hurst 6 speed. So maybe SS, WS6, or new GTO? I dont think the new GTO is at 350hp though. Well see.

can't be the XLR for many reasons.... I'll just say one real quick.... the XLR uses a 4.6l North Star, 320hp and 310ft lbs......just one of the reasons
I'll have to go with the GTO also.

There is only 1 problem. the LS1 is a 346 cui. 346 cui is not 5.7L.
Just a technicality I know.

Guess ya know incorrectly.
From the Pontiac site: "It is the most powerful GTO ever built with an all-aluminum 5.7L Gen III LS1 V8 with 350 horsepower @ 5200 rpm and 365 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm."

yes a 346 is still a 5.7L. Maybe if you wanna get technical it might not be, maybe like 5.689, but then you cant call a 351 a 5.8

MANY engines are not the exact ci/liter combo.... they just round it up to look bigger....
I think the 3400 is really like 3350cc or something, many times though it does not even out though...
...except my enigne....my 300cid is 4.9l :)

oh and mine(bronco) has a 300 I6 that is called a 4.9l
Ya know, for the most part I still prefer the old cubic inch specifications. 427 or 440 sounds better than 7L or 7.2L. I buy milk in litres. I want my car to have cubes.
Of course, they just don't make cars with significant sized engines any more (sigh). I miss those days, even if cars nowadays can generate equivalent HP on less size.

yea id prefer to hear say 350, 400,454,455,502,572 but with most people when they talk you would hear like 105 or 99 cuz most people drive 4cyl. engines.

Whoever answered GTO is right the new GTO is kicking out 350hp for all you speed lovers. This car is bomb. I really wanted a GTP but know i will have to go with the GTO it is about a couple thousand more if that and you get much more. You get about 1 hundred hp more than a GTP just that alone makes me want the GTO more. Anyways check it out at pontiac.com

fine, leave the 368, 390, 425, 472 and 500 among many others out then.... I see how it is....
I persoanlly refer to the Olds 307 (5.0) in my mothers brougham as, well a 307, for some reason I can never call the Ford 302, a 5.0, like a 5.0 Mustang, I dunno, I just like 302 better, but sadly, when tlaking with some kids in school, I will be like, yeah, such and such has a 302, and they are like WTF is a 302? so I would ust be like a 5.0 and they woudl be like, oh a 5.0, ok
I like calling engines by displacent, I like the new GM vortec thingy.....3400 or 3800 etc... sounds cool, then I like when an engine has a name, like the North Star, or the old Fire Ball or Rocket etc.... that is cool too......then my engine, which is offically called the 4.9. "Made Exclussivly for Cadillac by General Motors" and it is 300cid, but I always say 4.9, although I guess "Cadillac 300" sounds kinda cool, like it's a little brother to the "Cadillac 500"
But, I have a song names after my engine:
Shes real fine my four point nine, shes real fine my four point nine....my fooooooouuuuur pooooooint niiiiiiiiiiiine

Where did the 0-60 and quarter mile times come from? I haven't seen any independent tests of the GTO, and I'm sure as hell not going to take GM's word for it.

In all this talk of displacement nomenclature and GTOs, nobody mentioned the most famous GTO engine displacement of all. 389. With Tri-power. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm-MMMMMMMMMMMM!
